Hey so I'm bran-spanking-new here and I only just started looking around the forums. I'd really love to get a Hoth Leia up and running and eventually approved however I'm not sure where to begin...I'm hoping to start by pricing everything out. Maybe looking into getting the fabric pieces commissioned?
Anyway if anyone could direct me or assist me I would be much appreciated!
[I was also considering an X-Wing pilot depending on prices] |

Hey Alison! Glad that you are interested in joining. I am in the process of working on Hoth Leia. I can give you some links to good patterns to use for the jumpsuit and vest if you sew. The Padawan's guide is a website that has great tutorials on how to make many star wars costumes.
As for the rank insignia and arm communicator, I was able to buy mine from a site called "corellian exports" that makes these props. I sent them an email to contact them about the rank badge and arm communicator.
For the boots, I'm still in the process of finishing those, but I am using gray vinyl to make the straps and piece under the straps.
I am not a costume judge, but legion costume judges are very helpful and you can ask them questions about the costume.
Here is the Padawan's Guide page on Hoth Leia, this page has helped me very much:

The Padawan's Guide is a great costuming resource |

Oh awesome! Thanks so much...I just contacted corellian exports myself, hope to hear back from them soon!
I wish I was better at sewing, I just started to teach myself how to use (a pretty cheap and crappy) machine in these past few months so I'm not fully confident that I could pull it off.
Thanks for the resources though! I'll have to get in contact with more people to find out what else I need to be doing.
How are you going about the boots? Are you altering a pair? Making them?
Thanks again for your help |

You're welcome Alison! We are glad that you are interested in becoming a member
I'm using wedged gray boots, my wedge is about 2 inches, and this is a good reference image of the boots:
I showed my pair of boots to a judge just to be safe But I'm covering most of the boots with vinyl, basically I just need the boots for the wedge. |
