Ok---not like I dont have more than plenty going on as it is, but with the new sub topics in play Ill start my ROTJ MF Gunner progress thread.
I had posted photos of what I had in the other MF discussion thread already.
going forward, here is what i have. I will order a Spat white resin Racal Minilight on the next paycheck, cast from a real one.
I have:
Gaiters- here over my Imperial boots
weathered leather ballstrap gloves
two homemade OD pouches
two foriegn military belts joined at the back (another pouch will cover the join)
One leather custom made pouch
Racal Minilight headset kit
I also have one rank badge enroute and will order the other from Phyllis.
the ballstrap is blue. Should I cut the strap and mount off instead of repainting it yet again?

Love the weathering on the gloves, David. What did you use? |

thanks Jason. over on the original discussion thread from last year, I explained how i used olive oil on the leather. I learned that from Madsteamstress, apparently the Renaissance people have been using olive oil on leather for years. We wiped her boushh snout down with it. _________________ Once I was Dewka, but now I'm just G'nott sH'urr

Now that I know you are almost done with this outfit, maybe it will fuel me to finally finish mine after like 8 months! All I have to do is finish sewing the vest...sigh...BUT I really want to finish the Home One crew that I have been working on for about as long since no one has done it yet... _________________ Todd (Toda) - former RAID XO (2017-2019)

ive still got parts to go. The suit I got off Ebay turned out to be far too small. Like size(s) to small despite the states size in the listing.
That, and the vest, finish the headset. But I want to get a white headset for this to paint super light grey. This black headset will be for my Colonial Marine. _________________ Once I was Dewka, but now I'm just G'nott sH'urr

look what I found in the new book "The Making of the Return of the Jedi"
This photo does show that MF Gunners were both jumpsuits
and
pants and shirt...
sorry that the photos are not great...
but...
the photos in the book are small...the photos are just Poloroids...and I had to use a magnifying glass to see that photo #2 is indeed pants and a shirt..
also...
the picture shows that the gaiters are the same as a Y-Wing Pilot... _________________

will my Gaiters work? I see on your Y wing thread they are different, but I just checked the Y wing CRL and it differs from the end product. I want to make sure before I proceed.
if i need to mod them it will be easy since I already have the basic tube made. _________________ Once I was Dewka, but now I'm just G'nott sH'urr

Actually...yes...it is easy to modify the gaiters...
I modified my original Endor Gunner gaiters into the Y-Wing gaiters...
Here is the gaiters as I finished them up for the Endor Gunner and used them for the Rebel Vanguard:
This is the gaiters how they look now...modified into Y-Wing Gaiters:
To be honest...the black buckle moves around a bit in each of the photos as does "strap" that goes around the gaiter near the top.
Sometimes the buckle is more to the front...and other times it appears at the side...
guess...
the gaiters just shifted or the person wearing them didn't get them on just right...
the height of the strap is a little higher on some than others....continuity?
or did they just tuck fold the top down a bit if the person was shorter?
dunno... _________________

If we could get some high resolution pictures of those images, they'd make fine additions to the homepage gallery. Not to digress from the WIP thread, of course |

lol...the photos I posted are about as high res as it gets.
The truth is, the photos are REALLY small in the book and apparently were just Poloroid photos to begin with...
I put my scanner on it's highest settings when I scanned those photos...so...
for me...what you see is what you get..

I do plan to read the book cover to cover...so sometimes pearls of wisdom and "ah ha" moments are found within the text too...

one badge is in hand and the other I just ordered from you. Two more parts of the uniform.....and I found my tan fabric to make the vest. It was buried under other project fabric sacks. _________________ Once I was Dewka, but now I'm just G'nott sH'urr
