Would these be good glove to use as a base? Should the gauntlet part be wider? more flared? What do others use? Do you have a good source that has a better design?

No. Too thick. Waaaaay too thick.

You want something like these:

http://www.amazon.com/Pearl-Deerskin-Premium-Welding-Gloves/dp/B004HM79I8/ref=sr_1_51?ie=UTF8&qid=1376702517&sr=8-51&keywords=Deerskin+welding+gloves

The Tillman company makes similar gloves as well.

Hello Jeffrey,

The gloves you listed are something similar to what I have and those are acceptable, but as Dave mentioned, they're very thick and very cumbersome. Confused

I'll be getting new gloves in the near future for my Hoth Trooper because the ones you listed above just aren't really intended for what we'd be using them for. You'll want something that you can freely move your fingers and get into the trigger area of the rifle/blaster you'll be carrying.

That's better and much more manageable. The standards call for the following:

Quote:
White/Light gray gloves with med gray cuff and com device

Can you find a set that doesn't have the top of the hand white while the rest of it is gray? The hand (top and bottom) should be one color. I'd check with Phyllis about the pair you listed just to be sure.

These look pretty good. Not too bulky and one solid color.

These types of gloves run pretty big, so keep that in mind when ordering a size.

Good choice. I used essentially the same gloves:

All of the gloves seen in this post would work...
but as noted...
some would just be a BEAR to wear and function in...

I wish I could remember where I got mine and what kind they were....

mine were heavy knit cotton but are thin in comparison to the welding gloves.

Mine have a darker gray leather palm....

the draw back was my gloves were solid white and had no gray at the wrist...
I had to remove part of the original glove and add the gray cuff myself using a gray canvas fabric....

I do like my gloves as I can function in them nicely..

Those look like my original snowspeeder gloves, if they are, they're pretty decent, although mine had some sewing flaws, but nothing major. They'd be junk for welding but actually work well for costuming since they're thin leather in the hand part.

trying to find a good pair that's not crazy expensive without print. Anyone find another source? Someone found some a few months ago but they are all gone. If any one has an extra pair of Med for sale, I am interested.

I would say keep digging on the web using that search term.

Damascus D650s went out of production several years before the stock depleted, and by that time we had an ever better solution.

every few weeks i start a new search for guantlets. Im a glove fanatic.

this is one that i had bookmarked prior to the Galeton gloves I had found.
