For those of you who are new to these forums....
JLSWD is a Library event that has stepped beyond your usual Library event. Last year over 5,000 people attended and we had over 100 costumed characters. It was probably the largest gathering of SW costumes in the Midwest.

UPDATE 3-28-14

Rebel Legion/Nar Shaddaa Base display:

3 (possibly 4) Pilot costumes (Snowspeeder, Naboo and Y-Wing Pilots for sure and possibly a plain X-Wing Pilot) on mannequins with the "display tables" I made that will hold the accessories for those costumes.

1-2 complete Jedi costumes with a "display table" in between the two costumes.

Weapons table with blasters and a few props.

Literature table with brochures, the costume reference book, photo albums, the 3 books on the "making of" - The "Making of Star Wars", "The Making of The Empire Strikes Back", and "The Making of Return of the Jedi".... and misc.

Now to the nitty gritty of who can provide what.

Complete costumes:

Naboo Pilot - complete costume/mannequin - Phyllis
Snowspeeder Pilot - complete costume/mannequin - Phyllis
Y-Wing Pilot - complete costume w/o helmet/mannequin - Phyllis
Complete Jedi costume/mannequin - Phyllis

NEED:
Complete X-Wing Pilot costume and mannequin/dress form
Y-Wing Pilot helmet
Steve's Hoth Commander boots for Snowspeeder Pilot

Weapons display:

Phyllis:
DH-17
DL-44 - Luke Skywalker
Lando's holdout blaster and holster from ROTJ
Endor rifle

Props Display:

Phyllis:
ROTJ Bunker Blaster
ESB Hoth Microbinoculars
ANH Micronox Torch
RFT bucket/Styrofoam head
Hoth head gear/Styrofoam head
Endor Commando head gear/Styrofoam head

Books display:

Phyllis:
"The Making of Star Wars"
"The Making of The Empire Strikes Back"
"The Making of Return of the Jedi"

HOW TO/WORK IN PROGRESS

Phyllis:
Leather & leatherworking tools
Molds and casting

Misc:

Phyllis:

RL Banner
Photo albums of events
"Dressing a Rebellion" costume book
Astromech (Artoo)-depends on how much room I have left in veh.

Costume Displays:

This photo is representative of what the complete costume displays will look like:

I made 3 of the above "tables" for the 3 Pilot costumes (so far)

I also made 1 table for the Jedi costume accessories:

Dressing a Rebellion:

At this time it looks like Kathy VanB's costumed dolls will be put into the 3 display cases at the Library.

So...Kathy...where it would be great for you to bring additional items....it would also save you a trip if you have room in your vehicle to pack up the dolls to bring home with you after the event is over...
but..
play that by ear...

Wink

At this point I will likely only be wearing the Xwing costume (maybe snowy) so Colt and my RFT stuff is available if needed.

Colt needs some major repairs to the upper torso though so I don't know how much of him will be usable. Probably helmet and blasters?

My Luke helmet is also available again as well as my graflex.

anything Im not wearing will up for display, the little I have. I do believe this is an important exhibit, And definitely want it to succeed. And I also dont Phyllis to have to drag her entire collection out and set up everything. We need props and bodies. I will do whatever I can. It looks as if I may have a couple more Rebel costumes in the near future, so whatever Im not wearing can go on display. When we get a little closer to the date I can commit to set up and tear down.

yeah...
I don't want to display any Clone stuff...

when people see white plastic it is automatically assumed that it is 501st...

and don't want to be too random by putting in an RFT and not the other Troopers...we did the Troopers last year...

focus will be on the Pilots...

and the Jedi/lightsabers

Since you have the only other Snowspeeder Pilot in the Base...
looks like I can do both the Naboo and Snowspeeder Pilot...

BUT THAT IS ALL!!!

I only have 1 dress form and one other unit that I use to display full costumes..

Obviously...I also have the Y-Wing costume...but I don't have the helmet for that one nor another dress form/mannequin.

I can put the snowy stuff up on display if you want to display something else of yours. We could use a torso display for it and I can throw my old flightsuit on it if need be so it has the collar.

I've got all of my dolls + some new ones! More Rebel characters too!

I've got my new & improved life-sized Yoda. He now has a stand so that he doesn't fall over and he also has feet! Smile

I've got a lot of Queen Amidala & Padme costumes & headpieces.
(only one dress form though)

I've got a lot of styrofoam heads.

I've got more.

Kathy...

Are they going to have you put your dolls on display a month or so before the date like last year?

They would be CRAZY if they didn't!!

You could also check with Jody to put your dolls in the Library display cases...
....usually items are put in the display cases at the Library about a month before the event too....
there are several glass cases that lock that you could really "spread out" your display....you would have LOTS of room!

I haven't decided if I'm going to this event yet, but if I do decide to go I have my MR Han Solo ANH blaster, also my Endor Rifle and my RFT Blaster that can be used (depending on if I need it with a costume).

I spent some time today working on my display idea in the first post...
again...
trying to concentrate on a few things rather than being all over the place with items being displayed.

Concrete tube: $8.69 (cut into 2 so I could make two stands instead of one)

Pine round: 2@ $6.15 - $12.30

Decals...printed on home computer and glued on

White paint: leftover from painting a room

So...are we feeling it or no??

That would be awesome Jim....

if you can bring your extra stuff, I can always use my Snowspeeder Pilot jacket and misc stuff
and put it on your old costume pieces on your mannequin...

....it will still look fine...

We can have your mannequin with a mix of your and my Snowspeeder Pilot...

My Naboo Pilot can be put on my dress form

and

I can put the Y-Wing Pilot on my second mannequin...

I will see have to see if Andrew or Scott will loan a Y-Wing helmet...

I will try to find a 4th mannequin so we can try to display a plain X-Wing Pilot along w/the Snowspeeder pilot...I do have an extra flightsuit....

Do you have a 2nd chestbox?

I can make the display piece (tube and round) for you...I probably will need to get more supplies anyway...

Well, I have been toying with the idea of building a "duct tape mannequin" for some time now, so if I can find the time to do it, I might just have to undertake yet another project, which my wife is telling me I already have too many of. Oh well! I think the mannequin will probably be easy enough to finish in plenty of time for the display at JPL.
