Heya :-)
My son wanted a costume to match my Padmé travel outfit, so he decided that he "needed" an Anakin travel outfit.

Since this is such a rarely made costume - probably because of the difficulty to obtain mud cloth? - but still so beautiful, I've put my analysis of the costume as well as a walkthrough / tutorial for creating fake mudcloth online. You can find it right here on my website.
Note that the page, at this moment, only contains the information on making the vest and creating fake mudcloth - I still have to add the analysis and making-of for the obi and the shirt.
Hope you like - if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask Smile

Yes, that is the same shirt he's wearing when talking to Padmé while she is wearing the nightgown - this one, to be precise.
Interesting enough, that very same sheer shirt can be seen in some promo shots with the 'Picnic' gown; even though it's never worn in the movie like that ;-)

The vest is really easy to make. Including the discharge process, it took me just two days to create it. Just read my instructions; I hope they're easy to follow ;-)

That's just excess fabric. You achieve that effect by basically making the 'underarm' portion double as long as it's naturally supposed to be, then gather that portion along the inside seam.

How so?

On one, the top is open, on the other, it isn't - but it's, IMHO, basically the same tunic...

I know how they are made, but

these wrinkles looks to be set wereas the others seem to fall.

(I am really trying to explain myself properly)

I *think* that the different look is because of moisture.

You see, the 'Anakin travel' photos are either studio photos or taken outside in the very bright sun, next to no source of moisture (like a lake).
The photos with the 'nightgown' were taken near the lake.

If that tunic is made from really fine linen gauze, which I suspect, or more coarse silk gauze, which would also be a possibility, the fabric would instantly react to to moisture in the air.
It's basically like the difference of seeing how a very thin fabric drapes when it's completely dry, opposed to being wet - when it's dry, it will drape in larger pleats than when it's wet.

That, of course, is just a guess which I cannot prove; but logically, it would work just like that. One thing to back this theory up is the way how the fabric basically 'clings' to Anakin's body - like this was in a very damp environment - in the 'nightgown' pictures - you don't quite have that effect in the 'Picnic' photos (where no lake, therefore less humidity, is present).

Another set of pictures to back that theory up...

see this:

and this:

compared to this:

Particularly over the pants, the tunic looks "wet" in the third picture. In the first and second picture, the pleats are draping MUCH larger than in the second; and in no way, shape or form is the fabric as clingy in the first two pictures as it is in the third.

That gives me another idea - is it maybe, just maybe, possible that they sprayed some water on Anakin's tunic for the third picture to achieve a 'sexier`look...?

I actually think it was raining on set, when they filmed the scenes there is water on the floor when Natalie walks out and we see hayden.

it makes sense.
