Roger, Shay - if we are going to start a nitpick about details and accuracy then I call both sets of pouches inaccurate. Here is a pic, of the wide pouch, screen used, on Anakin's belt from ROTS:

Do we really want to get that anal? Really?

This hobby is suppose to be fun and honestly it breaks my heart to see people ride rough shot over details. The leather ones are great for ANY Jedi, period. The majority of people in this world have no clue what the pouches even look like so a little kid is only going to see a Jedi in uniform if they come up to you, they don't care about those details.

Roger, you need to lighten up, you are in a leadership position, people are going to come to you, and look to you, for advice. You need to take a breath and answer any question with respect and patience. You didn't do that earlier to Shay. Poor form from where I sit.

Shay, keep asking questions, that is how you get better and make your costume accurate. I for one love seeing the details come together, it's always the little things that make the bigger thing better. If I can answer anything else, shoot me a PM Smile

Dave

I think what Roger is trying to say is that it is close enough for approval but personal opinion, some work needs to be done to make it 100% screen accurate...but close representation of it.

Oh, not a waste of time (I assure you, others have the same question)...and no frustration.

This is a prime example of a prop that, to the fans and maybe most of our RL Jedi costumes looks screen accurate. But to those more picky (well...lets say "detail oriented" Wink ) we see the differences and know this particular pouch isn't truly screen accurate. PLUS, even the boxes I make are not 100% screen accurate (and I say as much in other threads).

Here's the thing, while the face character costume standards are detailed (some even giving measurements, lengths, widths, etc.) there must be some level of common sense when building and judging these costumes. The REAL question (while we really want details, especially with the face characters) is when is too much detail a problem? This is hotly debated daily in the costume application cue!

But, here we're discussing the pouches/boxes of our face character Jedi. We get a fair number of applications using the first pictured boxes (in the OP) which are simply not permitted (for face characters...again they're okay for Generic Jedi). The other boxes I and Fur posted are good. It's up to the costumer to decide which style they want to use. But either are okay for formal status of our face character Jedi. Are there any 100% screen accurate Jedi utility belt accessories out there and availble for purchase? I doubt it. But, I'm sure, if there are, someone will post it Wink

And the reason for posting this thread is that we are updating our Jedi costume standards (again), but it will take a while, and I felt it important to give this info in an official post to suffice until all of the face character Jedi costume standards are updated.

Hope this helps.

if this has already been stated, I apologize. but I find that if you ask
the questions BEFORE you submit the outfit for approval and get all things
tweaked before the submittal, then everything works out in the end.

Yep.. thats what WIP threads are for. Cool Also.. the boots are the last thing I'm waiting for before I submit for approval. Just saying, I hope I don't have to retweak stuff to get ready for approval for the new standards. Will post final pics before I submit my new application for my other Jedi.

So, the purpose of this thread was to tell us that Costumebase pouches are not allowed?
It might have been easier to just state this explicitly.
(The thread was framed in terms of what IS allowed... but really...
there's lots of pouches that are allowed. so the thread was somewhat misleading). Wink

I agree, I've seen these Costumebase / Jedi Robe pouches and they are very poor quality.
They are oversized and seem to be made of lightweight urethane foam.
They could be used as flotation devices in the case of a water landing..
..but I think, and Shay and Dave would probably agree, they should not be used for face characters.

Looking good Matt - who made them? I didn't think the knubs on the top and bottom of the pouch on the right were that pronounce.

I like them cheers

Thanks. They were made by a member of Sons of The Suns. I don't know if he ever was an RL member though. They're hollow and super light, so much so that sometimes I forget I'm wearing them.
