OK.. sorry I am probably going to ask a number of questions that have been addressed a THOUSAND time. Forgive this newb.
Ok these "forums" on these saber sites make NO sense. I have no clue what to buy... Help?!
Ive started a WIP on a Galen Marek Adventure Robe. In my researching Ive found little to no one selling his saber (its a doozy..and yet.. its just a buncha random nicknacks of a saber shoved together..literally) I cant even buy a generic saber and modify it I dont think?
1. Has anyone modified a saber to look like Galens?
2. Anyways, is there a "requirements list of approved sabers" for Lightsabers? I dont understand what a "Short FX saber" is. I cant find it anywhere online. Only that they seem "cheaper"?
Is this a NON approved Saber example?
http://www.amazon.com/Star-Hasbro-ULTIMATE-Lightsaber-Kenobi/dp/B009IFRLXC/ref=sr_1_16?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1367723722&sr=1-16&keywords=Ultimate+FX
Thank you sooo much for ANY help!!
Here is the saber in question. I would like the "essence of this saber", what I mean by that is, Id like a saber that opens and inside the casing you can see a lit blue jewel.
Then I like the "gun pistol" style end.

The short FX saber you mention is a much cheaper/more plastic (kid's version) of the previous MR and Hasbro FX versions (metal hilt w/ led sting blade - not very duel able though). As for buying anything from "Holocron" on Etsy - stay away!!! He also goes by cookiemonster8777 on ebay. He used to go by tattoosby5 and machine FX on FX forum
http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=17919.msg275109#msg275109
see the last post!
you may wanna try this though:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Lightsaber-Prop-TFU1-Starkiller-/251271464504
I don't know the seller but it has to be better than anything from cookiemonster8777 listed above. As for finding a decent Starkiller- there are several smiths on IRA or FX that you could commission for a build. Check the respective consortium or guild members to see who's got what going on. Here's one for example:

Vader's vault had a run at some point, but they are veeeeeery in demand and on the expensive side. Good luck! _________________

The StarKiller saber has always intrigued my brother and I.
Since we prettymuch ended up building our own sabers, we were trying to work out how we'd go about making it, and it was always illusive.
Best of luck! Costume's looking good by the by! _________________ Got Power Cells? |

one of my favorite designs from the EU
Let me back you up just a little bit with a question - do you want a static belt hanger, a light up blade version, or a full blown light and sound saber?
Of course, your decision is going to determine the price. AT the moment, my whole collection of Sabers are all static as they are display pieces.
I watched the video on that one linked, for the price it isn't bad however, personally, I would get rid of all sounds except *maybe* the activate/deactivate sound. The grips are going to have to be re-done since I do not believe they are accurate but that isn't a big deal. Also, the little switches on the activation box just look off, again not a big deal to change.
I know this saber pops up every now and then, every time it does I say to myself I need to get one.....

You Master Jedis are an invaluable source.
Thank you so much for all your replies
I am very on the fence. I dont mind spending the $$$ on a nice saber.
If I go ALL OUT: I would really like is to have a removable blade.
Also I have reservations about spending so much $$$ on such a unique weapon. Id almost rather just get a nice generic saber if I wanted to go all out. This will not be anywhere near my first Jedi.
Ive got 3 more planned after this. (including a generic)
Now if its approvable to use the Starkiller saber for some more of my Jedis I would be ok. But I dont know?
Honestly Im looking for "Bang for the Buck" This doesnt mean I am not willing to spend it on something nice. I really just want a nice deal! haha
That 300$ one is amazing! I think its sold (says pending sale) darn. Thats a beauty.. wow
Ok heres the one I want...
I can dream right?

Thank you so much good sir I feel like every time I make something I figure out another piece that needs to be done
Question about Force FX sabers.
Are they allowed. or not allowed?
The Ani Skywalker Epi3 looks so much like Starkillers weapon (with some mods)
I know theres multiple FX swords and I dont know which is which (except that some look a lot cheaper)
If I am going to modify a saber i wouldnt want to spend hundreds of bucks. So id like to start with a "decent" base and build from there.
I like that cheapo one as a belt hanger is why I ask. * |

These are hasbro's FX lightsabers. They have five product lines.
http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/star-wars-lightsabers?PG=1
From what I can gather, the products you see @$9.99 and $19.99 are not allowed. (ages 4 and up).
And the products @ $34.99 are not allowed. (called "ultimate FX", for ages 6 and up).
These are plastic toys.
The ones @ $129.99 are allowed. (called "signature FX", age 14+).
The ones @ $149.99 are allowed. ("signature FX with removable blade", age 18+).
These are the ones with realistic metal hilts. |

WHere is the price?! I cant even find it... maybe i shouldnt.. I noticed the Koda was 2500.00 EEEEEE..
Thank you for the Saber Answer: Yes at Toys R Us today I went down and played with an Ultimate FX Saber in the box 129.99. (Anakin) not bad (not good). I think its a nice starter saber i can just use to get my Generic Jedi and my Galen costumes approved with and work up to something nice eventually.
and.. possibly get one of these drool worthy monsters of awesomeness!
Your guys continued help is invaluable. Thank you again |

I had to click around a bit until i found pricing, it was the $2500 tag, which made me gasp a little........
Maybe another option, get a Graflex replica since the saber has some basis there and modify as needed?
The Force FX sabers are ok but as really just toys for big kids IMO, they should not be used for belt hanging or costumes.
