Hi, everybody! My name's Jose. I'm from Argentina. This is my first post! (please, be kind with my English!
As long as I have read, many of you have faced the problem of making a Han Solo blaster. Denix replicas here in South America aren't affordable. I've found some years ago the plastic Airsoft Mauser, but it has several mistakes (hopefully, mine doesn't have the long pellet clip). Nevertheless, I started making the conversion in a very cheap way, as you can see here:
Plastic soda/water caps for the flash supressor, plastic L-shaped scope mounting, and the scope made with those photofilm plastic cans. I made it following the instructions for the scope that you can find somewhere in the net.
Now, a friend recently made for me an aluminum flash hider:
Now, the details. The Airsoft Mauser lacks of details.
Using (yes, you guessed it!) plastic sheet, I made this:
Now, this Mauser has a kind of fake selector. I cut it off:
and then I will add a new plastic sheet over it:
You can follow the whole process here.

Hope this can be useful for all of you. See you soon! _________________

Very nice.
You can do some pretty neat stuff with a bit of sheet plastic.
I keep sheets of styrene of different thicknesses around because they are very handy to fabricate little pieces of things for different props. _________________

I would check on-line for resin piston halves. There are quite a few people who make them.
Are you on the RPF?? If so check out the "Junkyard". Lots of great stuff there.
Lastly you could do it real legit and go get the Revell V-8 engine model!
The piston halves are from it. Also the Battery tray from the model is a detail on the ESB blaster and the carburator from the model is part of Han's belt tools!
Check out the Parts of Star Wars for more info! Hope that helps, good luck! _________________

Very difficult to find, that Revell model is... at least, here in Argentina...

www.therpf.com
It's the prop replica forum. Sadly they only do membership's a couple times a year and last month I think was the last one, so it probably won't open up for a couple more months. But there's still plenty of information that gets thrown around in there, I was a lurker for about three months before I was able to sign up. |

Nope, I haven't heard of that forum before. I'll try to sign up to it. _________________

Unfortunately, you can't sign up right now, not for another 4 or 5 months. Or whenever they decide to open up the registration again. _________________

Hmmmmm, In regards to the engine model, if you can't find one, check with Vince At Corellian Exports. He can probably get ya some resin parts. Also keep a lookout on eBay.
Keep an eye out for when the RPF opens up again. Lots of helpfull stuff there! _________________

Final chapter of the mod.
As you remember, I had to make the details of the Mauser. I filled the hole of the previously-removed fake selector:
Since I don't have now Bondo, nor any kind of putty, I made a cover of plastic sheet (similar to the other side's sheet):
and the sheet, glued to the blaster:
I think I reached 80% of the final result. Need to re-make the scope, and the pistons, "greeblies" and everything else. The rest of the pictures, here:

Hope you enjoy it. Bye! _________________
