using sideshow toys 1/6 fleet trooper and online pics as a reference, here is my first attempt at making a gun holster:

a bit rough around the edges but i trimmed it before dye.

after final trimming and dyeing range tan. the color is a bit darker than pictured(darn camera flash)

this was a good learning experience. i plan on making another one for my DL-44. comments are welcome.

Looks good. I personally would add more rivets on the left side and make the leather darker Brown but other then that the build looks really good.

thanks for your input. it's actually darker in person...lousy camera flash. later in the year i plan on making another but with stitching instead of the rivets.

The gun looks good. I'm about to finish the dh-17. Just cut the back handle. Need to drill a hole for the D ring.

I would stitch it also...

and you can still add a rivet at the top and one at the bottom...
I have seen them done that way and it looks good...

to stitch it you'll need to have leather gear though or a special leather sewing machine. stitching Would look nice though.

Not really....
you can hand stitch too...

I don't know that there is a pattern floating around for the DH-17....

but...
just use the blaster itself to determine the actual size...and looking at the holsters of others should give you a feel for design...
then just make a pattern from paper first...make it a little larger to start....
you can always remove leather..
.but really can't add any if you make it too small.
