A couple of our girls have expressed an interest in making a classic Princess Leia costume so there would be one at every event. I thought we could all get together at my house sometime in March or April and make them.

I could make a list of supplies for everyone to pick up and we could make the dress and belt that day. Then we'd just need to find wigs and boots and maybe blasters.

What do y'all think of the idea?

I can offer guidance since I already have one and since I was approving them as a Legion Costume Judge.

Having a Leia at every event is the important thing, doesn't have to be just Classic Leia. I would like to see some variety as well from all of the movies. Smile

Well I don't think that I would look good in a Classic Leia. But man would I like to see my wife in one. I am not signing her up for this but I am going to heavily suggest it to her.

Jeffery, Haley is one of the girls that I was thinking of. Wink

Sandy, I was hoping that you would come and bring your dress for us to use as example while making the new ones. And having a former costume judge would help, too. Wink

I agree that there are several great Leia costumes. I have 2 others that I love to wear and will continue to wear. I usually get called Princess Leia no matter what I'm wearing so I may as well wear it. LOL

I'm not suggesting this be anyone's ONLY costume, because we'd have to take turns wearing it and you would need to have another option when it wasn't your turn. And some of the events we do could handle different Leia dresses.........not all events, but, some. (most people don't realize that the Ewok Leia dress is actually Leia, unfortunately) Sad

Let me take a look at a calendar and I'll suggest a couple dates.

that is just a a little over a week, but, I think I could have all the supply lists ready by then. Everyone would just need to hunt for boots and wig on their own.

I think that's probably the best option.

Trish?
Sandy?
Jaclyn?

How's that sound to y'all?

That works. I'll bring my machine down with me. Will I need to buy my supplies before hand or are we all going shopping together that morning?

When I was at JoAnn's fabric a couple weeks ago they did not have any white Jet Set, which is the fabric we will need. So I'm going to check with them tomorrow and see if we can order a bolt.....maybe 2 depending on how many we're doing. If not we may need to find it at another JOANN"S fabric store. That's the only place that has the right fabric for the dress.

We will also need leather and stuff for the belt.

Would it be better for me to get everything we need and have everyone pay me for it or for everyone to pick up what they need separately?

I'll put together a list of items we will need tonight and post it.

There is a Joann's by my office here in Jackson. I'll see what they got when I get off work. If they don't have it here, it may be best to order everything together. May be easier to do that for the belt stuff also.

You will need brushed aluminum to do the metal pieces for the belt, as well as brushed aluminum button covers, and a thick piece of leather, and white leather dye/paint. The belt is not easy.
You will want enough material for the dress to have it doubled, because it is very see-thru and you must have it lined.
You will need small hooks for the back of the neck as well.

What do y'all think of these boots? They look good to me and they're a good price.
