If I'm not mistaken, the main belt is 2", the secondary belt on Obi...
From the pictures I'd say around 1/2"?

I Do know the foodpellets are a little under 2-1/2", so you should be
able to math it out based on the reference Smile

You're making me think, Jermain. Surprised Yeah, I have those food capsules, I'll measure them and go from there.

Shay, I think I vaguely recall the buckles being sold here among the membership. We'll just have to look for it. We may be able to use a nonfunctional buckle at a pinch, the belt would be awkward to use but it could be an interim measure while waiting to find a functional buckle.

Think Ive scored a functional Obiwan ROTS. Stand by.

BTW I think the food caps are pretty much the same width as the belt.

I think around 58mm ( just under 2 1/2 " ) I think the inner is about a fifth ot the main belt, so probably a 1/2 inch ish.

The Crazy Old Wizards basically report that the OWK belt is 2.25" wide and the inner belt is 0.5" wide.

This is how I make all of my belts. However, for "extra large" or "extra small" Jedi, I alter the belt size (and tabard/obi width).

The main take home lesson is....not everyone is the same size as Mr. McGreggor. Our costumes should be porportional to our body size and type. A Jedi who is 6'4" and 300 lbs would need a wider belt to look right on his body Wink

A very sensible response Roger. Point taken, thanks Smile

Though just looking at the relative dimensions of the exhibit pic, it looks as though the inner belt is about 1/5 the width of the main belt. I would be shocked if it were only 1/9 the width. ( 2.25" / .25" )

( episode 4 - very different belt maybe ??? )

here is a good tutorial with lots of pictures.

http://www.crazyoldwizards.com.ar/forum_posts.asp?TID=331&title=jedi-utility-belt-prop-replica-for-obiwan-kenobi

this tutorial says 2.25 inch for the wide belt, and 0.5 inch for the narrow belt.

tutorial is in spanish. author is the.rebel.agent

measurements are given on page one: " 1,27 cm o 0.5 pulgadas" ; "5.71 cm o 2.25 pulgadas"

My Word, that Obi-wan costume is fantastic. And the hair and beard it's... it's... magical!!! Nice work. You should come to Oz Comic Con Adelaide March 16-17. It would be awesome to have another Obi in Adelaide!!!!

Thanks so much all, super generous Smile

Beejay, I would love to come and say Hi to Rick and all his rebels on Hoth. If I were welcome to troop with you ( still not sure of all the rules ) that would be a lot of fun!

Master John, very kind words mate, Cheers Wink If I can board a Ryloth bound transport and the council gives me that weekend off, I might just do that Smile

Okami Dai such a thrill and a pleasure to hear from the Austrian outpost. Thank you so much Smile

Hi Guys.

Sorry its taken so long but I have finally secured my Obi Wan belt without the stitching, and as promised, am posting the pics.

I REALLY LOVE this belt. I had long conversations with the maker regarding the absence of stitching and grooving ( etching ). It had to be a functional buckle and of course the right colour. He nailed it. I'm so happy.

This belt is super secure. It adjusts via 2 hooks and a series of holes, the same as a policemans belt. The cinch strap covers the series of holes and is itself adjustable via the functional buckle. There is a very tight covering in the rear of the join which is hand stitched. It is just super neat and very cool. The man is a genious!

The photos aren't my best effort but they give you a decent look at the belt.

FUNCTIONAL BUCKLE - ADJUSTABLE CINCH STRAP

CLOSING AT THE BACK - VERY NEAT

Ive also set the belt up with pouches and food caps. These are my Staedtler caps and they are arranged with the pouches in the correct order. I know the setups have been done before, but maybe someone will find it useful.

EPISODE 3 - FRONT

EPISODE 3 - BACK

I also have an Episode 2 Obi build coming up so have included that setup as well.

EPISODE 2 - FRONT

EPISODE 2 - BACK

Oh, btw, the photos are just taken against an old obi from a previous costume I had - not my regular costume. Smile
