I wish I had the patience to try and make my own. I feel like I cheated and purchased mine.

Very cool to see someone do this!

Thanks Robert! I considered buying, however since my ANH Solo is ready except for the correct boots (mine have laces) I figured I'd try to save as much cash as possible, should I find a pair in my size. The plans I'm following are Gattaca Models and Props on the web....his tutorial is pretty easy to follow, as long as you have the tools to do whats needed. I had to borrow a few tools, but it's coming along.
You should bring Chewie to All-Con Very Happy epic pic opportunity!

Doing a little mock up of spines, and focusing dial. I have coated the raw building materials, done some sanding. Once I like the placement of the spines, they will be permanantly attached and after all the other "greeblie" pices are attached, I will coat the entire prop in plasti-dip and weather. Hoping to have it finished by next weekend, then pics will be submitted.

I made the mode selection using a round of scrap plastic and pieces from the V-8 model

The visor over the eye pieces are made from aluminum

Here is a size comparison of my prop and the toy electrobinocs

Now I need to make the collar to the visor, fill in below it and fill in all gaps and imperfections with wood putty and plastic metal to smooth out everything.

All the pieces are cut out for the buckles, I just have to assemble them. The pants quilted knees have been redone, and look like an exact match to the ones on screen, and the black sections on the donor shoes for the boots have been delt with. Should be done within the next couple of days...where have snow in the forecast for Wed/Thurs, so I may have an opportunity for some great pics outside as well as submission pics!

When all is said and done... you know we are going to hound you for a tutorial on how you put that together right?

I've been taking pics throughout the build process, only a few have been posted. But if everyone wants me to do so I can, as there are things I would do differently should I do it again....but that comes from building it I guess! I'll add as much info as I can (measurements etc) however some of the parts are from the V-8 model....I use those for the DL-44 and ESB tool parts also, so it came in handy. Some people may not want to spend the money for the model, just for pieces....but I will do my best to explain everything!

The belt parts should be cured by tomorrow, and we ended up getting a bunch of snow, so I'll take pics in it as well as submission pics!
I have taken all the comments made earlier to issues, and fixed them already Very Happy

I had to go play in the snow of Hoth today.

And I assure you I was plenty warm, here is a pic right after retuning back to the house...so yes it's very much a functional coat!

One of my fb friends took one of my pics from above today and photoshoped me into the evacuation scene from Empire Strikes Back!
You see me (Han) on the right side between the 2 pilots heading towards the camera. I thought it was pretty cool and wanted to share it!

Well I fixed things pointed out my Evil Twin in the first part of this thread, finished building my binocs and today we took the submission Pics!

Here are the submission pics....

I love this costume, and being a functional coat makes it even better in all the snow we've gotten lately!
