I've decided to change my Jedi ways somewhat and go the Orange Jumpsuit route. So far I got:

Helmet: Received (in process of assembling)
Ejection Harness: Received
Belt w/ buckle: Received
Flight-suit: Received
Gloves: Received
Compad: Received
Flare holder: Received
Boots (german officer's boots): Own already
Chestbox: Received
Code cylinders: Received
Flares: Received
Flakvest: Received
Dh-17: Received

Anything else I might need? Also, what would be acceptable for a helmet? I know nothing "Terrestrial" is allowed, but I was thinking of finding a way to do a Maryland Flag or Terrapin Shell motif.

Yeah, I think that's about everything. Now it just depends on how everything comes together.

As for the helmet, because no real-world images can be used, you would not be able to use the Maryland flag. You could use the colors of it and maybe some basic design elements but not the flag itself. The shell would work as it could look like just a design.

Just to keep track of my progress, and maybe the WIP for the helmet painting I'll keep this updated. I want it approved by Air & Scare.

Any ideas on where to find reliably accurate flakvests for at least comparison?

I hear that Claudio AKA Custom Props from Argentina has a very accurate flak vest. (I think the name was changed recently.)
And I think you can get one from Darth Hair as well.

FYI: Your chest box is finished. Will ship first thing monday.

For your helmet, talk to Clark. He has the MD flag painted on his helmet. It looks good.

I grew up in bowie many years ago. Look at ritchiesarmor, darthhair on the forum, or possibly goldenarmor.com for your bucket.I did a goldenarmor and its cool, padding it makes for a tight fit

Ritchies armor, and Goldenarmor have been known for less than quality proiduct. I would avoid those sellers.

Darth Hair, or Moncal would be better choices. Mark, AKA Rando Mextra also offers helmets though they are on the smaller side.
I think there is another supplier here on the forum as well, but I don't remember who.

DW Designs does a nice helmet. He just sold a Tiree on the props for sale board. He did mine. I concur about Mark's helmet-it's awesome, but too small for me (wear a 7 3/8 baseball hat)... I gave it to my 6 year old. Darthhair and DW are about the same size.

MonCal has/had a larger size helmet that looks better with larger (7 5/8 -59) heads.

Just be prepared to wait. I just got my Veers armor that was ordered November of 2012.

Thought I'd share what I've done on my helmet so far.

No need to worry about that paint job design, it'll pass. Nice use of the flag elements without just putting a flag on there.

It pained me to do it, but I scuffed, scratched, dinged and marred my helmet up. Just needs padding and the chinstrap! I got knee padding and earcups to add to it.

I know it's still a little sloppy, but here's an update! Need to shorten the Flak Vest's shoulder straps, tighten everything up (Figured out why there's velcro inside the belt!), and add the compad when it get in. Then it's submission photo time!

And that thing on my head? A Rebel Legion inspired Garrison Cap like the WWII pilots used to wear. I'd have the Aviator Sunglasses on, but they just arrived after I had this photo taken.
