So over the past several months I've lost about 40 pounds and I hope to lose another 40 more. Obviously it is for heath reasons, but also being smaller affords me more costume options.

On my Chewbacca build I've purposely started on the mask and feet first because I know those parts of my body aren't going to change. However I have to finally bite the bullet and start on my mesh suit in the next month.

My question is I'm of course just going to make it to my existing size, but if I continue to lose weight how difficult is it to "tailor"? I'm guessing the answer is VERY hard, but I have to assume it's got to be easier and cheaper than making an entire new suit.

The only way I can see doing it is cutting down the sides and hand sewing the two pieces together. Anybody have any tips?

Congrats on the weight lose!

If the suit is completely latch hooked and then you need to make it smaller it is possible and easy.

You are right about the trimming coming out of the sides of the shirt and inner parts of the legs if leg alterations are necessary. Keep the legs just wide enough as to NOT show the stilts. Taper the legs narrower at the top to a bit wider at the bottom.

To re-sew the suit back together, you can hand sew it together so you dont get hair caught up in the process. You can lace a large piece of string, weaving in and out of the net suit holes and tying it off at the ends.

The other alternative is Zip ties.....Zip tie the suit seams back together with the smallest zip ties you can get. I really works!

Remember to keep the proportions looking correct as much as possible when you make changes.

Thanks Marty! I have to give most of my credit to "bootcamp" workout classes. Mine is lead by an actual Army instructor. You can imagine bootcamp classes in the Las Vegas summer. It really helps in endurance, which will come in handy while wearing a wookiee suit.

As for the tailoring tips, I would have never thought about zipties! That's a pretty good idea.

My goal is to wrap up my mask and feet by the end of April, then I have 2 months to finish the mesh suit by the 4th of July which is a big parade for the 501st/RL down here.
