Hey fellow Wookiees!

I've decided, after months of research and seeing you guys at C6, that I'm going Wookiee. I've always loved the walking carpet that is Chewbacca, so that's the route I'm going.

I've ordered stilts (really nervous about these) since I found a really good deal, was originally going lifts, but hope this will be better. I picked up the mesh fabric (will have to get more as Joann's only had a few yards) and some hair.

I think I'm going to go with a blend of 4 packs of 26 with one pack of 6 and one pack of 4. The gray will be a blend of 3 packs of 44 and one pack of 280. I'll be picking up material to do a hackle this week along with more hair to start the blending.

I've never tried to sculpt and mold something before so the toes and mask will wait for a while. I'll have questions when I get to that point, but I've got tons of materials to go over and study before I get there.

I'm really excited that I've taken these small steps into a taller world! I'll be posting every little detail as I go to get the best criticism and opinions as I go.

Stilts should be here Friday! I'm really looking forward to trying them out.

I've also picked up the rest of the mesh fabric and some thick nylon straps to for suspenders. I should have my mesh suit done Saturday and maybe some latch hooking on Sunday!

We love our Wookiees in Florida! Have you spoken with any of the guys at the Wookiee Workshop in Tampa Bay?

I spoke to the TBS guys very briefly at C6. Enough to cement the idea in my head to do this crazy thing.

I got my stilts in today. Lots of adjustments to do before I feel comfortable. Not to mention tons of practice. I was able to get them on, stand up and take a couple steps without breaking my neck, so I count that as a positive.

I've started to plan out the feet, but I'm not sure how big to go. I was thinking about 6-7" wide and 17" long including the toes. Does this sound about right?

My mesh suit will be done tonight and after another trip to the "hair store" I'll be latch hooking by tomorrow night! I plan to take daily pictures of the suit as I do more latch hooking. I think it could make a cool time laps video when all is said and done.

When done I'll be between 7'6" and 7'9". That covers the height requirement...

A little progress... Not as much as I was hoping, but football got in my way today.

Mesh shirt is done. Pants to soon follow. Hopefully done by the end of the week.

Still not sure on the feet. What size did most of your feet end up being? I outlined 8"x15" and it still looks small. Ideas?

Ok, small steps...

Made a hackle and started to blend some hair while my wife worked on my mesh pants.

I did 4 #26, 1 #4 and 1 #6

Cut it in half and went to work. Kinda fun to do this part. When done for the night I had 4 nicely blended batches of hair and one Wookiee sized hairball.

Pants almost done, had snag in the measuring. It will be fixed soon!

Ok, carved my feet today. Quick question for you all. What's the best way to attach the foam feet to the stilts?

i used elastic wrapped around the ankle and foot arch. It allows the foot to flex.

Ooooh... Going to have to try that. Toes should be in any day. I have already wrapped my stilts with foam and black duct tape, cut out and glued together some large pieces of foam, with the stilt foot pattern cut out. Smile

Elastic sounds like a good idea, and I have tons of that left over from my stormtrooper builds.
