Greetings. I'm Andy from Ottawa. 501st member (SL-9223) for 3 years with 2 cross over characters, ANH Tusken Male and GM clone, but have never made the jump to apply for RL status.

Anyway, I am taking on the challenge of a Wookiee. Snoova is the way I want to go and the kanekelon hair I purchased fits the needed there. The posts and WIPs here are outstanding and I thank all those previous builders for their generosity in taking the time to document their respective builds and post them here. Now, my questions:

a) how do you best get the colours to be where you want them when a patch of different colour is required? For example, you want a black patch of hair over the right knee... Do you latch at that point and during thinning it appears as you desire or do you latch above the point and the hanging fibres fill the desired alt coloured area? If above, how high above?

b) escalators. How do you use them at events where they are required?

You latch hook above the point considering an inch or so for hair that is not seen due to different color fur laying over the color you want seen. Also consider blending by mixing the two colors at point of blending.

Just hop on... go for the ride! Make sure to step off as soon as you can make the stride.... dont wait for the runway to end...

What Bob said. Just know that the hair will hang down lower than where it is attached to the suit (duh) so you just kind of have to eyeball it and think about where the hair is going to end up. It sounds tricky at first, but you get the hang of it.

And the top Wookiee in the photo is me!!

Who did the engagement? That was very very cool!
- But it did scare me watching the last bit on the escalator.

That was Matt P.
The future bride and groom were also from Matt's base so they asked him to lend a hand.

Escalators really aren't that big a deal. I've banged my head getting into elevators bunches of times, but have NEVER had a problem on an escalator - on or off.

That's good to know mate.
That was a great bit of video and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching as many Youtube videos of all of the wookiees as I could find.

No. NO. NOOOOOOO.

Listen. I have way to much information to glean and digest here on these forums. These videos are too distracting. Stay on target. Stay on target. Gahhhhhh! Youtube vids of Wookiees in action. I'll never get this thing started with such entertainment competing for my attention.

Seriously, though these vids are great. Hoping in the next 12 months I'll be able to share some of my own.

Got my box of hair today.

So I guess with escalators you have to have "well trimmed" wookiee foot hair right? I always had a fear the hair a the end if the escalator would get sucked under causing horrible issues. Heck my niece was wearing a long, hippie style dress at CBVI (same escalators as pictured above) and it got caught! Luckily we ripped it out before we got to the top!!

My hair flows over my feet and puddles on the floor ever so slightly... no fear of getting it trapped on an escalator. I do fear people standing too close to me when I start to move though.
