Hi all! Long time no post!

Planning to buy a lightsaber soon as a first step for my Jedi costume and would really like to hear some of your stories about your own sabers Smile Why did you choose the one(s) you have? If you have more than one, which is your favourite and why? What's the best thing about having a saber? Preferences for detachable blades? And do you think it's better to buy in person or go for online?

Thanks ^-^

probably a good starting point is the Hasbro Force FX removable blade saber. Nice first saber & affordable. Of course you can get better sabers but you'd expect to pay upwards of $350, the Force FX is much cheaper than that. You could get some good deals on a new one from ebay.

Yeah, like MS said the Hasbro Force FX Removable blade sabers are probably best to begin with. You can find them on thinkgeek.com for about $160. Dont know what shipping is. I started with a more expensive one myself.. and it didnt have sound.. but i wanted the look accuracy over bulky lol. If you want i can supply a list of sites where you can look for them and suggest the best ones. Smile

Being a long time sufferer of light saber envy myself I am looking as well so I can participate in R4L light walk. However I will need something robust as I have a habit of dropping things. What full contact options are there out there?

Thanks, I've been trawling ebay for a little while for the Force FX sabers, they seem to be fairly common and a good option. Could you please let me know what the names of the other model types are? What is the difference between the stunt versions? I've heard that some people also sell battle-ready lightsabers which have had modifications to make them less fragile.
Ewok-hunter, unfortunately shipping from Think Geek is $50-$70 as it's from the US D: If you have a list that would be awesome, thanks Smile

Parks Sabers
Ultra Sabers

Those 2 are the only two places ive dealt with besides thinkgeek. Park sabers were extremely slow though and they dont have a sound option. I would say their more for display and you also cant duel with them.. lol.
Ultrasabers were relatively quick.. but ive heard of a few people having technical difficulties and having to rewire them..

So... given that... the Force FX ones are probably the better option for a first time saber. Smile I know Kollectable Kaos at Pooraka sell them and Adelaide city comics sell them as well if you didnt want to buy online.

Ameph..
Ultrasabers would probably be best for full contact.. all the other options have been really backed up lately.. otherwise id suggest JQ sabers. Just be aware that if you get one from Ultrasabers.... you might have to get the thing rewired so it works properly... :\

there's sooooooo much more out there than a MR/Hasbro force FX. Try either of these forums or make your own from TCSS.

Thank you for the links, you've both opened the door to a lot more possibilities... which is somewhat daunting!
