There is a name for that card that holds the hair together... can't for the life of me remember the name of it.

The idea is that it holds the hair in place so you can pull hair out as you hook hair... without it tangling up.

I found some on amazon called.. Hair drawing cards. $40 Shocked

I wonder if a mending plate would work...
stuff you use for rafters of houses.. IDK

the mending card might work...
I guess it would depend on the sharpness of the edges....
too sharp and it would just cut the hair...

dunno...

Hair cards are something you can make with a staple gun a piece of heavy card stock. Staple the card stock to the foam (i used a yoga block). Pull the card off and you will have a hair starting card. Make a few pair.

second attempt...

made the neck hole smaller, the weight of the hair will most likely stretch that out..
made everything else bigger.. seems to fit ok now. arms sleeves are a little long, not sure where to cut those yet.. dont want to cut to short Shocked

so far, havnt used any fabric strips for the seams... I was concerned seams would not hold in the mesh with all the holes... but a few trails and it holds good.. I could not pull it apart... so.. so far so good. Dance Chewie

Wow....looking good!

You might want to add some re-inforcement around the neck and maybe on the seams...
as there will end up to be a lot of stress on them when all gets added...
but...

VERY COOL!

I am so glad you are documenting this build with photos as you go along...

I really think it important for others to see...
and I think it also inspires people to go for it..

Very Happy

I am looking to reinforce the neck for sure.
not sure how I would do the other seams without making the shirt smaller... I dont want to make another one

I am testing straightening the hair
I tried hair dryer low heat... nothing really happen... maybe a little..
I was worried about going with high.. but didnt see any progress with low so figured give high heat a shot..

worked really good. put the dryer right up to the hair.. maybe 2-3 inches away on high heat.. moved up and down for maybe a minute.
the bottom is the hair I straighten with high heat.. top is the unheated hair from same package
