WOW! so overwhelming!
so many different ways to do it

but I think I got the basics down.

I am going to head to JO-anns tomorrow and see if they have the mesh fabric..
I stopped by "Sally's beauty supply" to see if they had the right hair..
I found the brand, but not the right colors. I was hoping to save on shipping.. might have to order online.

back to the boards dizzy

You might want to try a beauty store by me (black women love their weeves). There is a place literally a 2minute walk from my house that sells hair and wigs.

do you remember the name of the place? if not, next time you drive by check the name and let me know.
I can look em up online or call them... I know the color numbers and brand that I need, I could always ask them before I drive out there

I have those pattern pieces...
but again...
they won't do you much good at this point...

I am thinking of ways to "enlarge them" by perhaps grid paper....
we will have to make a pattern using the basic shape of the printed out sheets as the sheets themselves are not really a pattern.

Hey Crix looks like your coming along great.

One of our members Firebird built a chewie and it's amazing. I helped him make the mesh undersuit. Let me know if you need a hand at all.

Good luck.

thank you Sarah! I've seen pictures of firebird's chewy. LOVE IT!

I am still doing the research on the costume..
should be ordering the stilts this week..
and I will be heading back to a local beauty shop to either buy the hair or order more if they dont have enough..

figured I should start the mesh suit next
but might need the stilts first to get the legs sized right... but I can do the top I think

did you use a pattern?
I dont know much on sewing, but I am going to give it a shot.
I would think a pattern would make things a bit easier..

What I did was use one of Firebirds shirts and made a rough pattern with that. Like what you do with the pants.

Make the arms a little wider.
I then used some dark brown fabric cut into strips to fold around the seems other wise the needle just goes through the mesh holes and it wont stay together. I've got some photos of how I did it I'll post them up when I get home from work for you.

Once you've got the pattern right it's mostly easy. To hold the mesh bits together when your sizing it on before you sew it use safety pins or bobby pins weaved through the mesh.

pictures would be aweome! thank you.
I was curios how I would sew this mesh together.. I couldnt understand how it would stay with all the holes in the mesh, but strips in the folds sound like a good idea.
