The things I have so far for my RFT.....

-Black BDU shirt...still needs to be modified

-Grey cargo pants w/ pockets

-Boots with buckles and ankle strap removed

-Helmet

-Blaster...needs to be modified and painted

-Belt and buckle...belt needs to be dyed

Still need....

-Long-sleeve blue work shirts...should arrive soon

-Holster...should arrive soon

Now, my question is this...the helmet fits me fine, the problem is the chin strap. It fits around my face but it is tight and a little bit uncomfortable. Is it supposed to fit tight like that or should I add a piece of fabric to lengthen the chin strap?

They all fit like that...pretty much strangle you...

instead of a piece of fabric...
I replaced the elastic partially ....
I utilized black 1" nylon strapping to replace the elastic and made it a little longer...
BUT
I did sew a piece of the black elastic to both ends of the black strapping so that there would be some "give" left to the strap.

and...

good idea on the WIP....
may help some other aspiring NSB members...

so...
using your idea..

am posting my General Riekeen/Hoth Commander WIP....
and hope to get back to that very soon..

Wink

So, I dyed the belt yesterday along with another belt that I am going to use for my Wolverine costume. Here is how it came out.....

Here is how it looks all dried....

I forgot to order finish to put on the belt so I went and did that tonight and I'll put that on when it comes in.

Also, adjusted the helmet so that it doesn't strangle me as I'm wearing it.

Still need to modify the vest, the shirt (when it comes) and I'm in the process of modifying my blaster.

More to come...

Received the holster and the leather finish today. If the weather is nice tomorrow I may put it on the belt.

Also, the holster is a darker brown than my belt (not by much), but IS accurate in shape. Not sure if the color is an issue. The trooper on the left in the visual guide has a holster that is lighter in color than his belt.

Holsters are optional items for the RFT in the costume standard...

...so a color close to the belt is fine.

That is what I thought but wasn't sure.

Thanks Phyllis!

UPDATE:

I applied the leather finish on the belt. It came out GREAT!!

Next up: Need to still make some modifications to my blaster and then it will be ready for priming and painting.

Also, in the process of modifying the black BDU shirt into the vest. I need to see a better picture of the pockets on the back.

Still waiting on my 2 blue shirts to come in!! Bang Head
