DK Publishing/ LFL - Star Wars Read Day, Southern NJ 10/06/12

Members of the Rebel Legion and the Galactic Academy participated in promoting, at the request of DK Publishing, Star Wars Read Day; a national promotion of Star Wars literature. All literary works weither it be novels, comics, or visual guides were the headliners of this day. Members assisted store management with lead Q/A sessions, Star Wars Trivia, and crafts to the Star Wars faithful- young and old alike.

With great anticipation, Star Wars Read Day started in New Jersey on Oct. 6th, 2012 for two events. The first event in NJ, Barnes & Noble Bookstore in Cherry Hill, NJ; the store management set aside a table at the front of the Children section of the store in the back of the store. The members were asked to stay by the table. The traffic to the table was mild at best. The table swag (all great pieces by the way was barely touch. Clearly, the management wished to participate in the day but didn’t understand the popularity of the day or pushed for advertisements.

After Cherry Hill, the members Hyperspace jumped to Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Deptford, NJ. This second event was packed with Star Wars fans who thoroughly enjoyed and took in the Trivia session. And other activities. A completely different outcome from Cherry Hill; by the end of the event the swag table was empty. The Star Wars fans, the store management , and members who attended were all smiles and considered the event a complete success!
