So instead of cluttering up the making of or costuming thread I'm starting my own project thread for my Endor costumes.

My goal is to have two Endor themed costume in time for Model Expo in Helsinki next year. With luck I might even finish one of them in time for the next Stockholm SSFGC. The costumes I'm planning are Endor Leia (with and without the poncho)

and an Endor Rebel Trooper

My progress so far is more or less just a shopping list. The only thing that I have is Leia's wrist communicator, and I've made one soft helmet of the kind the troopers are wearing under their hard "donut".

These are things that should be on their way in the mail by now:
fabric for Leia's pants, shirt and vest.

BDU pants in khaki
snowjacket
vintage belt pockets
vintage canvas rucksack
DH-17 blaster

You will make Leia's shirt? That would be too much for me, I think.

Weren't you getting a comm/rank badge also?

yes, I'm getting those as well.

And I don't think the shirt is too much trouble, I have a pattern for it that basically just need to shorten the sleeves and add the pockets.

On Friday I got a snowjacket in the mail, hurray!

Also I'm wondering what colours I should use for the camo paint. What did you use Björn? I think it would be good if we all used the same paint so that we look the same.

It was a army surplus store near my work.
They are about to move now (to my street! Wink )so I don´t know if they take orders right now but they have a web site.

rodastjarnan.com

They also have great stuff like army bags, belts, backpacks and so on! Cool

I don't think that Röda Stjärnan has any pouches ... because I think I bought the last two. Razz

Still looking for a Vietnam war-era M16 ammo pouch, though ...

I've bought one Vietnam compass pouch, and I'm thinking about making more myself rather than going for original vintage pouches. Also most surplus stores seem to have ammo pouches from after the Vietnam war, with the wrong kind of closure.

Considering that I've never sewn a shirt before I'm quite happy with the result.

Ignore the bad fit, I just pinned it to my sister's dress form and she's an XS compared to my L. I also haven't hemmed the shirt since I want to do that after I've finished the pants and know if I can cut some excess off at the bottom.

I've decided to go for having Leia finished in time for Stockholm. I'm doing the Rebel Briefing, so no poncho or donut. It's a bit crazy since there's actually more to do with this one than my Endor trooper, but Leia's costume more or less just involvews sewing, and I'm more comfortable with that and now how much time I will need.

I might not have it as a formal costume though, that depends on if the blaster I've ordered will get her in time or not.

Pants are done! I need to put in and hem them, but since it's already past midnight I won't continue. I try to never sew after midnight unless it's a really tight deadline.

First test with most of the parts.

I think I'm going to try and take in the trousers a bit more.

My sister helped me to style the wig, here's the backside of it.

Now I need to make a holster and two pouches for the belt, and a rank badge.
