Just modify an airsoft pistol of the same kind. It won't cost more than $100 and you don't need more than a dremel, plastic weld, and paint. Just pick up the extras and have at it.

Does someone have a pattern for the poncho? I want to do a Luke version. And what's a good material to use? I was thinking of something like cotton canvas or something(?)

Hi Matt...
I hate to say it, but I did not use a pattern. Confused However I did use a cotton blend (material) its been 5 years since I've done mine. I dyed it using different shades of green and brown RIT dye, in spray bottles. Fun to do though Wink Sorry I am not much help in this area.

Hi All,

Do you have any clue about how to make that "green donut"on her hat?
What kind of material? Is there something that can be 'modified'? Smile

Looks good! Cool

What fabric did you use for the pants? I'm only asking cause I'm trying to finish a CHiPS motorcycle cop uniform and need fabric like that.

I used stretch denim! Most fabric stores should have some selections of stretch denim or bottomweight twill for pants

This pocket is giving me so much trouble because it's hard to find any really high-rez shots that show the front or back of the sleeve (and therefore the side of the pockets.) I compiled this of every picture of the sleeve as I could possibly find. In some shots you can see the sleeve looks folded up, and it's under the pocket (though some you can't see the pocket shadow over it). And I find it weird how the pocket looks 3-d, and it's detached like that. I wish I had some exhibit-shots but since none seem to exist, I gotta figure it out! Any thoughts?

It just looks like the bottom of the pocket is not attached. Also the cuff looks like it has a piece of fabric that holds it down.

I posted a detailed reply on the JC boards, agreeing that the pocket is only partially attached with either the cuff tucked under the pocket or the pocket tucked under the cuff depending which scene you're looking at in the film, and my thoughts on the construction of the cuff, but I'll give an addendum -

The shot of Carrie with her hands behind her head under Imperial guard doesn't show what looks to be a French seam inside the cuff as you can see in the promo pic of her "saluting" with the DDC Defender short barrel. But it still doesn't answer the question as to whether it's fake or not.

So, either way you do it, as long as the seams are not exposed in any way when the cuff is finished, you should be fine. Smile

As to a "flap" of fabric holding the cuff, I don't seem to see that in the shots... Perhaps it's just how the sleeve is wrinkling with movement and arm position that's giving the illusion of a flap...? With the pocket only partially attached, the sleeve will crinkle differently than if the pocket was fully attached.

I'm thinking the cuff isn't a separate attachment because you don't see any seamline on the bottom of the cuff, I'm thinking the seam is simply reversed to the other side of the sleeve so when it's rolled it's on the inside. That's what I'm going to try anyway. I found it really weird they didn't use a french seam... but I guess it doesn't matter how I do it, no one is going to nitpick how the inside of a sleeve seam is finished Wink
I don't see the 'flap' either. With a cuff that big I don't think they'd use one anyway

I posted my tutorial on the pants on my site. If anyone thinks I need to elaborate anything, let me know. Smile
