Hello I'm Jaz

I am working on an X-Wing pilot for my sister Sierra. She is 21 and has downsyndrome. Out of all the Star Wars characters she picked an x-wing pilot to be. I have a few parts already like the helmet and chest box. Now I am stuck.

One of my problem is the flight suit. She is short and has hips.
Height: 54 1/2'' inches
Hips: 44'' inches
We really do not want to buy a orange jump suit and sew the pockets on ours self. We would rather pay someone to costume make it or buy one already made in her body size and just shorten the arms and sleeves.

Second problem is the boots. She has small feet.
Feet size: 3-5 childs
Does anyone know where we can find kids size boots?

Any help would be nice, thank you.

Everyone wants to be a pilot! Pilots are cool!

I wont be of much help for the boots as I have a hard time finding them myself, and in fact I just use Funtasma boots for my B-wing pilot, which have zippers on the side, but they're covered up by my gaiters so you don't see them. Someone else should be able to give you some better tips for boots than I can.

And as for the coveralls, I don't know if it'll work, but you might try asking MonCal. He has a thread going about selling accurate coveralls en masse, so it's worth a shot.

I'd say you'd almost want a custom suit made. Mine was made by Mieal Deneb (Rachel Orange)

I'm not sure if she can do it, but I'd contact her.

For boots, your best bet may be something like Pay Less Shoes.

I've found black boots for both my boys there. Yes, you'll have to cut off some straps and buckles, but they work.

I usually find it more difficult to find good boots in men's sizes... There are many girls and small women who ride horses, so riding boots in your sister's size should be plenty. The problem would be finding boots that both fit and which would be approved by the costume standards. Most riding boots are too tall.

Would these work?

http://www.famousfootwear.com/en-US/Product/37032-5195925/Skechers/Black/Kids+Saddle+Up+Pre_Grd.aspx

Is it ok if the zipped is in the inside of the boot?

Or this one and I would take off the belt strap.

Almost, but no. The silver accents and the extra seams disqualify the first one.

The second one is unfortunately too loose.

What size are you looking for? That may help us help you.

How about these one with taking off the lower buckle.

These might work, I think they might be close enough. The ankle straps would need to be covered, one should be covered by the leg flare holder, the other should have the flightsuit leg flared over it.

I'm just unsure if that heel is acceptable or not. Jon & Gil, thoughts?

that's a possibility as well. I'd recommend taking off those flaps at the top too though. I'm somewhat unshure on the leather on those shoes, they're so dull they almost look gray. Also we usually try and recommend staying away from pebble grain.

I think we have a winner if you can find a pair that fits her. They're boys, but take the straps off and these should pass with flying colors.

Thank you thank you!! I never thought to look at boys boots. Sadly they do not have any in store for her to try on. So I have to order them online, which is fine. Boots are on there way now. YAY!

What are the requirement on design for helmets. She really wants some kind of pink on it. She is a princess. Leia Buns

The basic rules are that you shouldn't use anything real world, like pepsi logos and stuff like that. It needs to look like its from Star Wars and wouldn't look out of line if you imagine her flying an Xwing at the Death Star.

Using pink is fine. I'd stay away from glitter though... lol

Its always best to draw up your ideas and share them so we can tell you what will and won't work.

I also suggest browsing through this thread as well to see what others have come up with: http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11480

Ok I can not figure out how to post a picture so here it is on my flickr

I had my sister pick out the colors and design, she know what she wants but she does understand that things will have to chance.
