I got to speak with some IK folks at CVI, but wanted to post up here too. We're trying to get an IK build together at our Base in time for SWW next year.

The hard parts are not an issue but I am stumped for the soft parts. What are you doing for yours? Are you making it yourself? If so have you found a pattern that works better than others? Or are you farming it out to one of the folks who make Vader soft parts and asking them to make the required modifications?

Thanks for any input!

I'm curious about this as well; I know the Vader body suit is "close", but that's about it. If we attach the appropriate tabards to the upper/lower body - would a Vader body suit be acceptable?

Princess Sandy is the LCJ for this. I would recommend PMing her.

Good thought but I would also like to make this a soft parts build thread of sorts. That way we can have it documented here for future use and she won't be bombarded with so many PMs. Very Happy

What is a good discription of how it looks? Is like a Vader suit or close?

Much appreciated. Smile

Thanks to the Flagship forums and the wonderful wip from Thomas Spanos I have a rough design to go with. I am putting in inquiries with several tailors, leatherworkers, etc.

But I would love to see up close images if anyone would like to share what they have.

There is a thread on here that has the patterns for the soft parts. I don't remember where it is though. I would have to look.

Okay, I have found someone who is willing to take on this challenge, but I want to clarify what fabric will be acceptable before we can get down to business. As I see it there are three main items that are soft parts: the body suit, the skirt (tabards) and the cape.

No fabric is specified for the cape. What would be acceptable for the cape? Wool? Cotton? Some other blend?

The body suit and skirt both specify leather or leather like. Leather is self-explanatory. What materials fall under the heading “leather like”? A pleather? Vinyl? Polyester of some sort? Some other fabric? A cotton chintz was recommended because it will have a shiny, leather-like look when quilted. Any thoughts on that?

I’m not up on all of the material options out there, nor what would be acceptable to the Costume Judge, so I came here to the experts! Thanks for your help Very Happy

We've been asking around too and not come up with anything yet. Currently we have at least four with the armor and a few others looking to do it. So if you come up with a source willing to take on more folks I bet we'd have some others interested. Smile

I have found a source tentatively interested in producing the soft parts, but they had some questions about the use of the actual material to be used. If it pans out, I will definitely share Cool

The arms and legs would work fine, but the body is not the same. The IK does not have the ribs in it, but rather made of 8 panels, also you will need a ribbed neck wrap that is not standard on the vader suit. A lot of vader suits are also made with mesh in the back for airflow that is covered up with his inner cape, you don't have that with the IK so just know what the back looks like to before you order
