Greetings all....

Newer member to the forums and have been reading and doing my
research....this will be my first foray into SW Costuming and I have
decided on doing a RFT and perhaps later a Yavin Tech to escort my
R6 unit I am building...

I am trying to put together my RFT cotume and having a few issues...

First off, I am a big guy... You probably saw me and Jek Porkins
in line at the base mess hall... Laughing I take some grief from friends for
my size but I think this would be a good costume for me...
I have managed to find pants, shirts, and BDU shirt for the vest....
(the pants were a pain but finally got them!) and have feelers out for my bucket....

The issue is boots. I have a seriously wide foot
in a 11 1/2-12 depending on the make... and VERY thick calves...
without getting too personal, it is a health issue on my part
and I just need something that is going to fit without binding
me and making me uncomfortable as hell... (22" at the calf)

Finding a 12" tall boot that doesn't pinch the everloving god out
my legs has been a HUGE challenge. I found a nice pair of Black
Skecher Engineer boots that I removed the straps from... but
they just won't fit over my calves....

Anyone have suggestions??? Anyone have a similar issue??? If so, How
do you handle it????

Could the boots be modified with gussets? or elastic inserts to fit my
calves comfortable and still be Legion approved?

It bugs me that I can build a full-size R2 but can not find a damn boot that
fits Very Happy hahahahaha

Look forward to your insight and suggestions!!!!

Thank you all!!!

Matt

Hey Matt,
In situations where proper costume parts are difficult to find or get, the LCJ's are often a little more lenient with the requirements.
I'm not really an authority here, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't modify a pair of boots with gusset inserts to make them fit, as long as the added pieces match and blend in with the rest of the boot pretty well.
Although doing the mod may not be so easy if you're not a boot/shoe maker. Shocked

I spoke with cobbler in Green Bay today who assured
me that he could make my boots work for me and be
more then comfortable... I am relieved of that...

Should take about 4 days to get them done....

On the subject of the RFT uniforms...

Would a shirt similar to this work?

I have several of these in the same size and color shade...
I had thought of using some of the RIT dye remover to
tone done the blue some to get a better shade...

Whatya think????

Those shirts should work. Be careful with the RIT dye remover. A little goes a long way. Use smaller amounts and repeat the process if necessary.
