Howdy everyone, just doing the obligatory "HIYA" lol. My names Dan and Im from Binghamton, NY. Myself and a friend, along with help from a fellow RL member TrooperPX, just submitted photos for our Jedi outfits last night. Here are my app pics, I hope I hear back soon, I was going for full formal regulations my first time out. Might as well aim big lol.Very Happy

Alright, I have to ask...
Why the shiny tunic?

Other than that, and perhaps the sleeves that might be a bit short,
it looks like you got yourself a well constructed Jedi there. Cool

LOL Well I COULD say since Im a large guy I like to stick out Very Happy but in reality, I liked how the fabric felt and how well it breathes. Since I am a fairly large guy, I tend to get hot quickly and sweat alot but I wanted a black outfit so I needed a material that was lightweight and breathed. Thanks for the feedback, I hope I dont get dinged on the sleeves LOL. Although if thats all thats wrong, Id be a happy camper.

Just a heads up, you might be asked to replace your tunic or tabbards with something less shiny. Something similar happened to me with my forst application. My origional tabbards were somewhat reflective like yours, and I was told I would need to replace them with something that was not shiny.

As the judge who approved your costume..
I will admit that I am not a fan of the shiny fabric on the tunic
...
BUT
I felt that the sheen was not overly shiny ...
and left that statement for the other judges to weigh in on in case one of them felt that it was indeed too shiny.

the tabards are something that you might want to replace down the road...they really are a bit too shiny...

but allowances are made for tabards as many sets of tabards are made from leather and pleather.....and some of those can have a sheen to them.

I was warned as such when I first started posting and thank you very much for the explanation. So for my second set of tabards, I shouldnt try gluing on disco ball mirrors and go all elvis jedi? Laughing

actually...
I made the bibb for my gunner below out of a pleather that I purchased at Joanne's...

it also has a slight sheen to it...
but not too shiny..

also
I think too that if one took a really fine wetsand sandpaper to the pleather I made mine out of (400 grit water sand) it would probably take more of the shine off it..

it would be worth buying a small quantity of the fabric (it was not expensive) and trying the wetsanding...
