Thanks for looking!

The camo on the pants could use some toning down...
.
use the Basil color to tone down some of bright colors you have on there...
we do use some of the "bright" colors...but very sparingly...

most of the camo is the "basil" color ...which is a muddy green...and...

don't overdo the spray painting.....
leave tan showing through....

also...
it looks like your long sleeved t-shirt is gray...
gray was removed as a color for the shirt..
the only color allowed now is tan...aka "sand"

Thanks everyone. I can't take credit on most of this as I purchased it from another. Phyllis, When I first seen these pants I thought that they needed to be toned down somewhat as well. We'll get on that and I'll keep a look out for a tan/sand shirt as well.

Thanks

Also make good use of moss & hunter greens. When finished, you should have a blend of no fewer than 3 greens.

I think the hunter green might be a little too bright...

I think that the bright green near the fly on the left (in the photo-right side of his body) is probably the Hunter Green...and the bright yellowy-green on the right (left side on his body) of the fly is probably the Olive Bright....

moss and basil are good choices to tone down...
but again...go over the brighter colors with the moss and basil to leave some of the tan showing...

also...looks like there might have been a little black used..
avoid the black...

Wink

Good morning, Phyllis--

I'm going to respectfully agree to disagree. Design Master's Hunter Green is alot closer to the green hue found on our 'Halo' {I refuse to call it a donut...}

I don't think that Design Master was used on these pants. I also believe that green color next to the right fly more closely resembles Holiday Green...
http://www.createforless.com/Design+Master+Colortool+Paint+Holiday+Green+12oz/pid14377.aspx

I certainly agree about the virtues of Moss & Basil...

Isn't that left fly color a little too neon-ish to be Olive Bright???

Dyeing your t-shirt is easy. Pour some hot water into a bucket with some (brown) tea bags. Soak the t-shirt in clean water first, then in the bucket with the tea.
Tea is all you need. The acids in the tea makes the dye stick.

The updated standards also require:
Quote:
Accurate capped sleeve vest with slash pockets and padded applique on right upper chest.

What the standards don't mention is the details on the quilted are vertical stitches going down it, (I guesstimate to) about 3/4" apart.
Some people have sewn the details on a separate piece and added it on the front of the vest panel, but I think that it would look better if you attached the padding to the inside as there would be no extra visible fabric edges.

The vests in the movie had padding also behind the right shoulder (but not behind the left), but the standards don't require it.
Actually, both shoulders were padded before and behind, but only the right shoulder had visible stripes on the outside of the garment. Weirdly, the left shoulder had the quilted stripes on the inside of the garment but they are very difficult to see.

true...
I am strictly going by the Design master paints...
I had them handy...
so I sprayed some fabric......

utilizing Design Master paints.....
the colors I mentioned appear to be correct....
but again...
I am strictly going by "Design Master".....

other paint companies can label colors in the manner they see fit...
and..
I am assuming that Design Master was used ...and I don't think "Holiday Green" was one of the colors we recommend...but that don't mean it wasn't used...

Very Happy

and....
this just in...

I recently picked up the book "Star Wars Character Encyclopedia" by DK...
and..
had a chance to thumb through it...

it has a lot of great reference photos that I really don't remember seeing before...
good quality photos...

here is one the book had on the Rebel Trooper...

of note...
it sure looks like his shirt is gray....
and...
take a look at his capped sleeved vest...
he has both rank badges on...
weird...

As for the paint schemes on the bandolier greeblies, is it basically up to ones imagination? Obviously keeping it within the visual references available. There's just nothing set in stone that says that you HAVE to paint them this way, correct?

I would say correct...
the Bandolier and associated pieces are optional items for the costume
..and I have seen them painted in a variety of colors...
most seem to stick to black and muddied red...
