The Rebel Legion's Echo Base and the 501st Legion's Empire City Garrison attended the Second Annual Long Island Toy Show at Hofstra University, in Hempstead, NY. The event was on Sunday, July 8th, 2012 from 9AM - 4PM. We trooped from 9AM until 1:30PM and had a great time. At first, the show had a bit of a light crowd for the first hour. After the early bird hour (which was an extra fee), there was a steady stream of guests that kept us pretty busy. We took photos, handed out citations, and answered questions about our groups at the table. We were also able to do Shoot-A-Trooper for charity throughout the day, and we raised $165 for the Pinwheel project. The Pinwheel Project is a local charity in NY that brings games, activities, toys, and treats to children at local area hospitals. We had a large donation from one individual that was greatly appreciated, and the Toy Show management made a sizable donation as well. Daniel and Sharon from Echo Base helped run the Shoot-A-Trooper, and man the table throughout the show. The management of the show were very happy and appreciative we were there, and we generated a lot of attention and exposure for them. During and after the troop we got to check out the dealer tables, and there was a wide selection of toys from various eras. Special thanks to Vicky, Andrew, and Jason for taking photos helping us out throughout the day.
