I am in the process of making an A-wing pilot costume and plan to make a flight suit from scratch. I got some green material that I liked but wasn't sure about the color. So I dyed swatches of it with a teal dye to darken it up a bit and change the overall color.

Opinions? The color changes from left to right from light to dark. Each swatch is 5 minutes apart starting at 5 minutes on the left. The bolt under all the swatches is the original fabric and of course it is still an option as well.

So pick a number and have at it.

All of the dyes in direct sunlight at about 6pm.

Same as the first but in the shade

Close up of the first few again in the sun

Middle of the pack in the sun

The last few in the sun

Thanks for the help in advance! Awing

It's kind of hard to tell, but I think you'd be okay with any from 25-35 range.

Yup, 25-35 looks o.k.

Do you already have the material for the flak vest?
IMO it is more important to find "matching" colours than to stick only to one of them.
It´s the combination of all parts that makes the image... Cool
On the A-wing costume there are very strong contrasts - white "bottle - hose - harness" system in front of a (dark) gray vest and a (dark) green coverall...maybe better not to make it toooooooo dark. Razz

Good luck! Mr. Green

And of course.... Awing rules!

I don't have the vest material yet, I am still looking for something I like. I am trying to find something as accurate as possible (the dark grey with the flecks of other colors in it).

If you find anything let me know, please! I've been looking for some myself, and it's been really tough. The closest I've found is a thick felt, which the color and texture is actually pretty good, but it's almost too thick to sew with. If it wasn't for the thickness it would be almost perfect...

And, well, it's also felt, so it doesn't hold together very well. It does pretty good when there's some backing on it to stiffen it up, but still, it is only felt.

I'm agreeing with the 25-35 range as well.
