Excellent...I do have a few D-rings lying around. Now my next question...I can't find Testor's Medium Green anywhere around here, and that's what's recommended on the Endor Bunker donut finishing touches tutorial. Is there anything else acceptable? I do have a LOT of Rustoleum colors already, is there anything in that line that anyone's used?

I'll let our "color meister" MacBragg address that one...
I am always hesitant about offering color advice...

The one thing I noted was that you could not find the paint at "big box" places like Michaels of Hobby Lobby...

I had to go to an actual "Hobby Shop"....

Sadly, hobby shops are going the way of the dinosaur thanks to places like Michaels and Hobby Lobby...
old fashioned neighborhood hobby shops carry more of the types of supplies for model building....
Michaels seems to carry only a few of the "most popular" items for models...and has waaaaaaaaaaaay too many silk flowers and other junk...

Glad to know you're looking out for me Laughing

So, I got a GREAT start on my AN-H-15 [always loved the coincidental lettering there haha] today! But...the donut is kind of another story.

I've been using Charles Gray's planter donut tutorial provided on endorbunker...but I'm starting to think my larger-than-average head may be too big for it...

Now, this is me in my half-done helmet [gotta add ribbed top, chinstrap, ear cups, and snaps] with a roughly cut donut top half on. Considering the bottom part hasn't even been put on yet, I feel like the donut is too small, length-wise. Width-wise it's fine, because it's a perfect circle. Is there any way this can work out? We're going to test-fit other-Ryan's tomorrow and see how that goes...his head is smaller than mine.

EDIT: Also, any recommendations for a buckle?

This is a tough item, as it appears to be a different color in almost every scene and I suspect there are at least two paint schemes (Phyllis is going to kill me...)
All of them are painted in dull, muted colors. Unfortunately, we have received submissions that can only be called "Orion Slave Woman Green"

Head over to http://ralcolor.com This page provides a handy reference without getting too complicated.

For scheme #1, a base color similar to RAL# 1020, 6005, or 6025, with a second color of green (6000, 6002, or 6028).
The second color should be applied very lightly, almost not noticeable from 10 feet or so. Optionally a third color in even smaller amounts.

If you have the fabric paints left over from your pants and jacket, they work fine as well!

I grabbed a random can of "Olive Drab" from my paint shelf and used two of the fabric paints for detail

Advoid the "Olive Drab" colors that have a distinct brown tint to them. In my case, the "Moss Green" was used very lightly, mainly so the ring/donut would not be just one color.
Note that I do not have more than two "spots" of the "Hunter Green" on each half! Again, subtle and understated.

The Blu-Ray relaease doesn't help, you can see the same actor in different scenes and the colors change.

There might be a second version, with a base color of gray 7015 or 7024 and a blue-green 6026 camo. This can be seen on Han, Luke, and Leia when they first see the biker scouts.

The research continues...

I give up on color...
so...
suggestions are always appreciated...
the killing has ceased..

truth be told...my current view on color (for the most part) is check with the other members of your Base who you will troop and do events with...
and follow their lead...

Very Happy

That's a good idea...I haven't encountered any Endor troopers in my area at all, but I know there's at least one in this state and several in my base. I'll ask around. Now about the donut itself...does it seem too small? I'm worried that it's not big enough length-wise from front to back.

Sounds good! Things are coming together. We painted the dusters and pants today, pictures to come I'm off all week so it's a blaster and donut focused day tomorrow, should have both done and started painting by the end of the day. I'm actually about to do the gaiters right now.

My only question at this point is where do I get a buckle for this chinstrap?
