So getting a belt buckle for the flight suit is a pain. TO get one shipped from overseas is anywhere from $14.00 to $18.00. So I thought about making one. Here is the step by step.

I first bought a 1/8 inch steel rod and a 1/4 inch aluminum rod from Ace Hardware. Total cost was $5.88.

I then measured 2 1/2 inches and cut the aluminum rod. For the steel rod I bent it as shown.

I then used a dremil to cut 1/4 inch grooves on each end of the rod.

Did a test fit then used a 40 grit sand paper to give the rod the look of having teeth. Then bent the rod around the other rod.

Cut the ends and then cut a small piece of abs plastic to be used to wrap around the end.

Heated it up and bent it around the rod as shown. A little trimming and cut a hole with the dremel.

Last was paint ..... What do you think?

Looks good although it's very hard to see the detail in these tiny pictures.

Not a bad solution if you don't care if you don't have the real deal. Its a way better solution than not having the proper buckle at all.

If its sized properly, I don't see why that wouldn't be an acceptable alternative to the real deal. Kinda hard to tell without seeing you wearing it.

I make myself buckle?
not be challenged if I produce it?
would comply my costume to be accepted?

I raise these questions because the buckle is very hard to get in Chile, and the constants stoppages customs buy things out ends up being a waste of money because they do not reach

from already thank you for the clarification

regards

Rod

As long as the buckle/slide looks close to the accurate one there shouldn't be any problem getting a scratch-built one accepted. It would need to be of similar shape, color, size, and so on... That is, as close in appearance as the accurate piece as possible.
