Hi I am new to making Star Wars costumes, My husband is making his own and I want to join him, I am wanting to put together Amidala's Handmaiden battle outfit from Episode 1.
Any help would be great as I have no clue on the best places to look, and what not to buy etc.
I look forward to getting to know you all.
Sarah

You may find a few bits of info in this thread... and a few of the ladies who have made the costume.

Use either velvet or velveteen for the outfit. The hardest part is the sleeves, which are basically half circles with a sleeve cap. This is a really pretty costume and it will be a fun costume to wear Smile .

Not wanting to derail your thread, but welcome to RL, Sarah!

I noticed you're from Shropshire, so pop over to the UK forum and register there so you can chat to the UK members:

http://www.rebellegionuk.com/forum/index.php

We don't have a UK member with an EpI handmaiden costume, so it would be great if you were the first. You've definitely posted in the right thread to get all the help you need on this costume. The girls in here make some amazing costumes!

I've seen this on ebay and after messaging the woman she has told me that she has changed her design to be inline with the RL, do you think it would be worth getting and tidying up.

I look forward to your replies please.

Ugh, no. If that's her updated version. I see so many things wrong with that, not to mention the cheap looking fabric. The trim is used wrong, the tucks are very strange, I don't know what's going on with the belt there, and the sleeves are not the correct half-circle shape.

Even if you got a pattern from one of the girls chances are you would need alterations. If you are unable to make a pattern, you will have difficulties in alterations. I would suggest hooking up with a local member in your area. Get to know the local base members. I am sure there are a few in the area who would be happy to help you get to the next step.

Sarah's posting on the UK forum too, but none of our members have made this costume before, so Sarah's best bet is to ask the ladies on here since this is where the in-depth knowledge and experience is with this particular costume. We'll defo do our best to help though! Thumbs up

If there is a pattern available, it'd be a good way for Sarah to start.

So, pattern! I'm the one who's passing a hand-made pattern around. You may have to alter it if you aren't the same size as me, but it is a good place to start.

I plan to take my pattern to a local office store tomorrow to get it scanned and then I'll be able to post it online for download for anyone who wants it.
