Hi mate

Just read through this & have a small suggestion.

To help with the overall look of the costume you may want to try some shoulder pads under your tunic to broaden them so the head is more in line with the actor in the films.

Looks really good though mate.

It might sound silly, but have you considered wearing the jumper
backwards?

The tentacles would cover the zipper, and the world
is none the wiser.

This thread explains a lot, mate. Your Nautolian looks great, and I'm sure that you will have the extra stuff to go for Kit Fisto soon. I think that it should be easy enough to make you something like a high mandarin collar for your inner tunic, and I read somewhere about using suspenders to hold a mask in place.

Next time you troop, you will have your team around you, as I am sure that you know already. Be at ease!

Hello everybody.

To my costume of Kit Fisto, I don't have the belt buckle. Can you help to know where I can find it?

Thanks a lot

Chris

This is my costume:

It has been a while since I have done an update on this, now I do ask people not to take what I'm saying the wrong way for I do want to put together a good outfit that is long lasting and not send me into bankruptcy.

Now I have had the whole of my base outfit remade by the brilliant tailor Freya at aethereal-designs.deviantart.com . Her link of the made outfit is located in the following link. A statement has already been made about the undershirt (yes it is a undershirt not a dickie), "One suggestion for the dickie would be to maybe dye it a shade darker?, it looks white in the photos and the standard asks for Off-white/Light tan. It might be the lighting that makes it look white though". I can safely say it is an issue of lighting and the outfit should be in my hands by the 16th of April. http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=55613

A big tragedy has occurred, the boots made by Jdos even though they were not "to the standards", they have been stolen while on the way to get fixed up. The matter of theft and replacement has been sorted out, the boots will be different from Jdos' design for it is a different cobbler, but then again not many people have gone into depth with how Kit's boots are designed. And with all due respect, I would have given them to Jdos to fix, but I cannot wait another year for them to get fixed up.

As for the mask, it has to be fully redone, Shannon is taking another stab at this and is improving on his last design. As soon as I get an update on the design I will be posting it up for the costume judges to say something and approve on it. I will not take this "it has to be accurate", if that is the case please find me a makeup artist who will make the 26 prosthetic pieces and willing to spend the 11 hours needed to apply them for $200AU or under per event. The RL has accepted Rubies conversion mask with tentacles shorter than what the first build was. Judges please put your "nit picking" here where I can do something about while it is been made, not during the submission stage.

Let me repeat this, this is not a generic nautolan, not a generic jedi, this is a Kit Fisto build. I know you have standards, but keep them well defined and in sight, if you can complain about generic outter tunics not covering the arse then this would be simpler.

Also the tutorial link under the Kit Fisto standards is not working.

re: boots

"not many people have gone into depth with how Kit's boots are designed."

HERE is a photo of Kit Fisto's boot.
http://imageshack.com/a/img849/2601/loiu.jpg
(and a few more photos to put it in context)
http://imageshack.com/a/img163/6569/9di4.jpg
http://imageshack.com/a/img850/7220/vkpe.jpg
http://imageshack.com/a/img836/7568/zub1.jpg

interesting to note:
the "upper" is NOT attached to the "shoe" portion, at all
this is just a simple shoe (or "ankle boot"), with separate shin-wraps.

((the upper portion of the boot is just a piece of vinyl wrapped around the shin.
it's not even attached to the shoe -- indeed, it appears to be a different color of leather,
as compared to the "shoe" portion below it)).

--> these are not "real" boots. LOL Wink the upper portion is just for show Wink hehe

these are made from simple "shoes", with faux-boot-tops, UNattached to the rest of the shoe

Wink

-====-

to re-create these as "real" boots, you would just need a simple plain unadorned riding boot, with a single strap at the ankle.

here is how "Sideshow" did it Wink http://www.blackopstoys.com/ebaypics/SIDESHOW/2106/SSC-2106-06B.jpg

hope this helps. cheers.

I find that really interesting that this information has now come to light Cobalt. Is there a source material on where you found this information?

Also these were the boots Jdos made

But that photo of the boot you have proved is a great photo for reference.

this was the screen-used Kit Fisto, as it appeared in the Lucasfilm exhibit "Star Wars Identities", which toured Canada in 2012/2013.

I took the photos myself Cool

my comments on the construction were based on my own observations, having seen them with my own eyes Wink

Kit's boots caught my attention because they were not real boots -- the "upper" was not attached to the rest of the boot, like all the other jedi on display Wink

they were clearly made from 'shoes' + 'faux boot tops'

-===-

the JDOS pair are very close to what I saw..

(I couldn't get a good view of the buckle, as the robe was in the way)

..you mentioned the JDOS boots were "not to the standards" -- what was the problem?

Please don't think I'm ungrateful, these photos are great and your observations have given new insight on a outfit that has not a lot of details on it. The extra little details your camera has picked up on does make a world of difference, the belt for instance has the two indented lines along the top and bottom of each piece of leather used. The observation of the fabric "Corduroy" on the undershirt and under tunic is also great and something I will be looking at getting done.
Out of curiosity which camera were you using for these photos?
