How did you determine the hood measurements? Or does it really not matter?

Sorry, I didn't see your post.

Basically, I draped a piece of fabric over my head to approximate the fullness seen in the films. That's how I got the opening measurement. From there, it was mostly a square where one corner was rounded. You can see that in the tutorial Wink

I just wanted to pass along my appreciation for your brilliant tutorial on the robe. The seamstress I hired to put it all together was really impressed and she's been doing this for 20 years or something! Many thanks!

Does anybody know if Mystik Merchant has restocked its robe material and completed the shop move?

You may want to ask on the main Jedi forums where more folks are likely to see your question Wink

Thank you for this tutorial.

I wanted to make a Jedi cloak for my daughter and this tutorial was perfect. I failed at the flat felled seams (it went well until i get to the curves under the arms, I could not work out how to make the work), so I ended up using an overlocker.

I did do flat felled seams in the hood though.

(when I tried to post the images they were the wrong size, so I have linked them instead)

My next project is a Luminara head piece for her.

Another excellent tutorial!

I have a question about the top fold. How were you able to get a 69 inch measurement without a seem? The widest fabric i can find is 58 inches.

Thank you for your question!

I must confess that Im not sure what youre asking...but Ill offer some insight:

The wool I used was about 58 wide. There is about 4 yards of fabric, folded over lengthwise where the fold is perpendicular to the salvage. The folded fabric is now about 2 yards long and the fold is at the shoulder of the robe.

The measurement at the shoulder was about 55, and the length is about 69. This gives you half the robe. You cut two pieces and sew them together along the back seam to join the bulk of yheyrobe.

Remember these measurements are for me. Depending on your size, your measurements might be different.

I hope this helps. If not, please let me know.
