Mountain princess/Stephanie Bradley does. That's who I got most of my stuff from.

She can do all the soft parts. For the gloves, just go to Harbor Freight and get a pair of welding gloves. To get the two-tone effect, we used fabric paint to paint the rear part a darker grey. easy-peasy.

Hey so I got a hold of her, we'll see if she can do the gaiters for me... one quick question. What brand/style of googles are the ones that you have? I'm having trouble finding white ones that have an amber/yellow lens.

I'll try to find the exact ones I have. I got them from the Sportsmansguide, but I don't see them there at this time.

Mine have a tan frame, and are a dust goggle.

We went through a LOT of debate on the colors of the lenses. Here is what I believe we agreed were acceptable: Light green, yellow, dark green, amber.

I used some green plastic and cut it to match, and we even dyed some plastic green to get the light green look. I then used my original lenses to be a base template, and cut the other colored lenses to match.

I have the lighter green, more canon look, for canon troops. If I am outside, I prefer the darker lenses.

I personally like the anonymity of the darker lenses for every day trooping, but if there is ever a canon troop where that level of detail is needed, I can go lighter.

If I can find the goggles I used, I'll post them up.

Sweet! I just found some on ebay for $11.00, better than anything I had found before and they already have the white head strap! Thanks for the info!
So You think the green looks better than the amber? I'm still not sure what I think.... I definately don't want yellow...

Personally... I am not a fan of amber. But I base that off the look of the trench troopers scenes that were shot on location in Norway. The hangar scenes were shot in England, had different lighting, and possibly different props used, hence the different color.

Gobs and gobs of reference pics here.

We had so much debate on the colors used that we decided to open it up to multiple shades and tints. It's like how you see several different colors of scarves. Go with what works for you. Cool

Wow, from those it seems like the only one with amber lens would be Luke. Every other one looks green to me... glad you could get that cleared up Smile

So I can't believe I kept looking over it, but we are missing the white vest with the greeblies and the comlink glove greeblies... where did you get the greeblies from?
Also, any ideas on the vest, is it something that I will just have to have made?

If you want to make white frames out of other coloured frames that didnt match...use PLASTIDIP and/or Rubber Paint used for rubber rafts...

We used Rubber Paint for our Paintball Goggles (JT Ones) and even with firing at the frames the Rubber paint didnt went off...

You can even mix rubber paint white with colour additives so that you achive another colour.

Just a quick tip... Wink

amber is really a rather generic term for the color as
amber can be either very dark..
or very light..

AND

those Hoth scenes were shot in two different countries...
some of the pieces in the inside shots (shot at Ellstree) were different from the pieces for the outside shots done in Norway.
One of the actors who wore the costume at the Ellstree (and shared the information with me) shoot classified the color of the goggles at Ellstree as amber...

As far as finding stuff for this costume...
there isn't a "Hoth Shopping Center"...
you have to get down dirty and make your own..

If you are a member of the Yahoo Group for this costume..

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/icestationecho/?yguid=122878206

there are links to the few pieces for sale..
and tutorials on how to make most of the costume..

and if you really want to learn something other than where to buy..
go to this thread...

http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7081
a lot of people contributed a lot of great information on this costume...
it is worth the read..

My Hoth costumes:

Hangar Trooper:

Hoth Tech:

I have a Hoth Trooper from the original toys and was wondering if there is a brown Trooper rather than the white trench trooper?

I am looking through the threads here and this one seems to be the thread I am looking for but just need some experienced minds.

If you mean "brown" as in "tan" or "khaki", then yes there are varying shades of very light beige/tan/khaki when the movie is viewed.

There is a long discussion on tan versus gray with some preferring gray since that is what was used in reality and others preferring the tan/beige because that is what the color looks like when the lights were used and the film was made. Lighting a movie makes colors come out differently.
