Hello All!

I've been following these boards for awhile, so I guess it's now time to join in the fun. My name is LaVonne, and am currently a member of the 501st (Imperial Officer). Hope to soon join the ranks of the RL.

After way too many years of planning and collecting pieces/parts, I'm finally going to finish this darned thing. The Black Invasion Gown has always been my favorite of the prequel costumes. The plan is to finish it by the 3D release in February (crosses all fingers).

Some photos (keep in mind, this is a work in progress). Amadalia

Hi! It looks beautiful!
I am also making the same dress. I have tried to mold the peaks on the outer layer by heat setting the fabric with only fair results. Did you use invisible thread? It looks great!

More progress pix. I'm trying to get as much work done on this costume as I can while on semester break. (School starts a week from Friday - yikes!!)

Naboo symbols added to the velvet overskirt.

Thank you! Actually, I just used regular black thread, but used elastic thread in the bobbin. Peaks were created by sewing in a spiral from the center out (does that make sense?). I believe this is the technique used (or similar to???) by others who have made this costume.

Happy New Year All!

A couple of update photos of the peaked overdress. I'm sewing this in sections -sleeves first. (Sorry for the not-so-fab quality of the photos.)

Excellent work! I have seen some peaked fabric before (it was pink and polyester so not able to be dyed) and that is indeed how it was done Smile

Hello All!

I want to thank all of you for the kind words of encouragement on this project. This site along with Padawan's Guide and theforce.net have been invaluable resources of information for this costume. There are some beautiful re-creations of this dress out there!

As I predicted, I have not had a lot of time to work on this project the past few weeks. Teaching schedule plus a dance concert thrown in the mix, have taken most of my free time. I do have a few new photos to post - was able to put in a few hours this week. I'm feeling the pressure with the deadline two weeks from today. Yikes!

1/2 of the overdress (still need to work on left side)
