The 501st Legion's Empire City Garrison and The Rebel Legion's Echo Base have been invited to participate in a fundraiser for the Puppetry Arts Theatre on Friday, February 10, 2012 in Times Square, NYC from 7pm - 10pm. This is Friday night into Saturday, and is a multifaceted event that will begin at the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum and end at the AMC Theater in Times Square to troop in front of the theater (this was changed from the Regal). TPAT is holding a sleep over event in the museum as a fundraiser, it will feature games, activities, and movies throughout the night. We are being asked to attend and greet guests from 7pm until 8:30pm in costume. Afterward we would head down to the AMC Theater to troop outside the theater to celebrate the premier of the Episode I in 3D from 8:30-9:30 PM. This would be an amazing troop, and not only benefit TPAT, but celebrate the release of the film in 3D.

Tim Young is the organizer, and would be providing a secure changing area, a free dinner for up to 20 of the costumed volunteers after around 10:00pm at Dave and Buster's (next to Ripley's). Admission to the AMC Theater is not provided, but can be purchased for later that evening. Tim will be giving a $5 movie certificate (costumed volunteers only) to Regal Cinemas to be used at a later date. Also, anyone who would like to participate in the museum sleep over would be welcomed to attend and participate free of charge, along with any guests. They are hoping to get at least a dozen costumed Star Wars characters to attend, and as of now there is no limit, but the dinner is limited to 20.

Details:
Date: 02/10/2012
Time : 7:00pm - 11:30PM (6:30pm arrival)
Place: Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum
Address: Times Square 234 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036
Characters Request: 20+ Troopers and Rebels

Just some more info.. We got a definitive schedule from Ripley's on the plan for Friday night.... I have added things specific to our group....

7pm – Guests Arrive – Sleepover starts
7pm – 8pm – Pizza/Orientation (Stations will be setup, but activities will not yet begin.)
7pm – 8pm – Meet and Greet with Characters
8pm – Walk over to AMC theatre.
- Ripley’s and Characters will escort group to the AMC. (We will troop the theatre, too).
- Movie is for paid guests only. No staff. (This means us unfortunately)
- Ripley’s staff will go back and setup the stations, while guests are watching the movie.
8:15pm – 10:45pm – Star Wars Movie at AMC (Sleepover paying guests, your guests can attend if buy tickets for them to the show.)
9:15pm - Drop by Dave and Buster's for photos, and greet staff.
9:30 - Head back to Ripley's to change.
10pm - Dinner at Dave and Busters for 501st and Rebel Legion.
11pm - 11:30 - Pack up our stuff and leave.

NOTE: Those wanting to stay and buy AMC theater tickets on their own for a late show will be allowed to leave their bags at Ripley's.

For those staying over...

10:50pm – Welcome back with Characters. (None of us are obligated to do this, if you are sleeping over this is totally up to you if you want to troop later on).
11pm - 1am - Stations begin
- 2 groups of 20 and 1 group of 22.
- Scavenger Hunt/Laser Race/Stations (40 minutes)
- 3 stations, plus a Sponsor table – 13 minutes at each station.
1am – Flashlight Scavenger Hunt
1:15am – Lights Out
6:30am – Rise and Shine
7am - 8am – Breakfast (will not be included for us)
8am - Farewell

Just a quick update on this. They are confirming with the theater, that anyone who troops and is not able to stay to watch a late showing of the movie will still get a free Regal movie pass. If they can work this out it would be a standard pass and require an extra fee ($4) to see a 3D movie, but its better than nothing. Anyone interested in staying the whole time and staying over at Ripley's are welcome to do so. Also the Dave and Busters dinner event after the troop will be at 10pm, and be for costumed volunteers only up to 20 people. This is shaping up to be a great night out in the city, for a great organization.

UPDATE: Unfortunately there has been a change to this event, the Regal across from the Ripley Museum has decided not to run Star Wars Episode One at that theater as they were planning. It may be due in part to the AMC Empire right across the street showing it, or other factors, but no reason was given by the theater. Tim is beside himself, and hopes we will still be able to do the Ripley event. He has already secured free passes for us from Regal we can use at a later date, and he will provide one for each costumed character. His group is also treating us to a Dave and Buster's dinner next door for up to 20 at 10pm.

There is an AMC Empire that is showing the film just a quarter block down from Ripley's on the same side of the street. We will work to contact them and see if there is any possibility of trooping in front of that theater from around 9pm-10pm. We will try to work that out, but even if we do we can not expect tickets or any free admission would be provided. Anyone planning on seeing the movie after the Dave and Buster's diner may want to plan on purchasing tickets to the AMC for a late show. Hopefully we can still work out something with the AMC theater, or just take a walk over there in costume during the Ripley event. Dave and Busters had also asked that we drop by at some point for photos, so we may pay them a visit as well. I will hold off editing the mission briefing until we have a new plan in place, we just wanted everyone to be aware of the situation.

I'm still in even if there is no official screening troop. How is this effecting Tim's plans though since it was a Star Wars sleep over and there is no longer a Star Wars movie? I'm almost done with my costume, excited for Friday :-)
