Ok,
definatly making a pilot, not 100% on which wing yet, A,B,Y,X...so gathering some parts that will work for alot, like my gloves. found these, was wondering if they will work?
http://www.leathermystics.com/gauntlets/gauntlets.html

Also, anyone know a source for boots? they seem to be hard to find...found some engineer boots but with a motorcycle look, with the strap wrapping across top and around...possible to remove the straping and just use the boot? I'll try and find a pic and post.

These are the boots I use for both my Rebel Fleet Trooper, X-Wing, Hoth Hangar Trooper, Hoth Tech, Yavin Tech, Endor Gunner and Imperial Gunner.

I had to cut off the strap and buckle at the ankle...but you can't remove the buckle at the top as it is functional.

The one thing about these boots is that they are 13" tall ....which is ok and approved for all the costumes I mentioned...
but...
for X-wing..the boots should really be taller (in the 15-16" range)....
but..
these boots work as a "universal boot" and ...they are not bad in the $$ department.

They are leather....

Awesome, those were the boots i was actually talking about Mr. Green

was thinking that just removing the strap would work, however i didnt know about the correct hieght, and...

also, wondering wether the embossed emblem on the boot's heel and upper would count them out?

found several different makers of this styled boot, but all appear to have thier logos embossed in the side of the heel.

Thanks again for the link and info Mr. Green

No...the embossed emblem doesn't seem to be too much of a big deal...

I know that the boots that Jim (iam8114) has also are embossed...
and his are the more correct height.

I had thought about ordering the same one's Jim has...
but they don't have my size..
men's 6 1/2

I think these are the boots that Jim bought..
and ..
correct me if I am wrong Jim...
note that these are 15" tall...
and I wish they had them in my size..
Size 8 is the smallest size and my feet swim in men's 8..

Yep, those're my boots. They work well and I'll be honest, I forgot they had an embossed logo until Phyllis mentioned it...

couple more questions... Mr. Green

was wondering about the "name" of character? Do we need an "alter ego" for the costume? hadnt given it much thought before, just curious.

Also, been looking at side arms for pilots, and from what ive been seeing/reading on forums is there really isnt a "standard"
Ive been just thinking I'd probably just get a kit from doopy of han's DL-44 (always digged the look of that blaster Mr. Green ) since I know the quailty as im almost done building my E-11 from them.
But a thought popped in my head, and silly as it maybe...is it possible to do a dual rig, ie pistol on both sides like an "outlaw" Mr. Green of the old west? Just thinking itd be a nice possibly original or lesser seen asspect to break from the norm. Any thoughts?

You can use your screen name here (Woulf) as your character name...
I use Schph Gochi for all my characters...simply because I have no imagination...lol..

and...
blasters and holsters are not required for Pilots at all..
so my suggestion is to make whatever you like...

BUT

when you finish your costume and take photos for submission...
leave the gunbelt and blasters off in some of the photos.

Most of the events that we do attend are "non formal" events...which means you can pretty much wear any additional pieces you want to.

Where not required....most of us do carry a blaster...

some of us have the DL-44 blaster, some have DH 17 and some carry custom blasters...

yeah, name can be anything you want.. or just your screen name.
I went with Crix Helcin when I joined up.. it was a star wars role-playing character I had in high school. It was my way of bringing him to life.
I got the name by flipping thought a SW RPG book and found that General Madine first name was Crix. I liked the sound of it and used it. I have no Idea where I got Helcin from. kinda dropped it anyway now. since then, people have been calling me Crix, which I REALLY like.. I never had a nickname before.. at least one that was said to my face Laughing

you could also try for a face character, but there might be special requirements for them.

blasters.. yeah don't have them for your submission pics. once you are approved you can add any blasters you want. the Dual thing sounds kinda cool.
I started with a "Solo" DH-44 type gun.. but then switched to the "rebel" gun..DH17, cause I could still shoot darts with that one Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for the info, seems that once moncal is producing, there'll be a long wait...thanks for the tip to custom Crix...however there stuff seems...pricey? plus the added shipping from argentina, added to cost as well.

Guess I'll keep cruizing the builds and how toos...wont have my boots until feburary anyways...
