Does anyone have any detail images of the pike weapon or range finder?

It looks like the pike in the range finder image is a good size diameter pipe. Also the guard holding the range finder has some other goodies on his right hip. Shocked Any ideas on those? Is it on seprate black belt on the outside of the vest? Also noticed his com box is sideways...but I see the antenna for length accuracy. Razz

This will be tough - the shot was essentially three guys on the side of the ruins in Central America. Limited transport for eqipment in to the location, the "platform" is literally two trash cans they scavanged bolted together. I'll check my texts when I get home.

Thanks for checking what you have. I was hoping it was in a book I haven't seen or a traveling exhibit etc. Posted on the RPF too, see what comes up. I would like to do the whole costume with everything the RFT uses in the films, but if it isn't to a degree accurate I will probably pass.

Page 270:

...was really a Minolta spot meter, with a tube and batteries taped onto it like a gun, "to make it look sci fi".

Possibly a Minolta Auto-Spot II ?

one more search to check on ebay, Minolta spot meter... hopefully a cheap one. Add it to my mental notes for flea markets and garage sales. He is holding it kind of funny, maybe a square camera battery or two on top, not seeing a tube, maybe the lighter colored thing by his palm. seems to have an odd shape near the bottom of the grip too. Thanks Mac

Vintage Minolta Luminance Digital Meter 1/3 Degree & Case Serial #501236 Works ...this ones on ebay.

If you took the battery(which is the handle?) or two actually, used electrical tape to tape them to the top front of the meter. Then took the tube mentioned as the new handle I could see that.

Not that that is the exact meter used but a series off maybe?

The hunt continues!

Yeah there is a model I and II. The model II is vintage 1976 so that would put it as "top of the line" for when they were filming. Unfortunately, they didn't go into more detail. I doubt the prop survived the days filming Laughing

I'm guessing the pike is something I can freestyle, though?

I would say that yes...you can freestyle it a bit...
pay attention to the overall length of it...don't make it too short...

Here is a copy and paste of Jedi Dad's instructions from the Tantive...

MATERIALS NEEDED:
1- 7’ long piece of 3/4" EMT electrical ridged conduit.
1- 3/4" electrical pvc cap.
1- 22" round tapered table leg.
1- 11" piece of 3/4" wood dowel.
First you need to sand the inside of your pvc cap out so it fits
your emt conduit. Then epoxy it onto the end of the 7" conduit.
Take
your tapered table leg and cut 7" off the small end to make it
15"
long. The cut needs to be as flat as possible so you do not
have to
spend a lot of time filing it down. Drill a hole large enough to
accommodate the 3/4" wood dowel so it goes into the table leg
3",
only 8" should be sticking out when done. This will make sure it
does not come out. Once you have done this you can epoxy
the dowel
into the table leg. Getting the hole straight will be the hard
part,
be patient and if the hole gets to big in diameter that’s o.k. Just
epoxy it in and use wood putty to fill in the gaps. Next sand all
the surfaces with fine sand paper and wet and dry paper on the
metal
emt conduit.
Primer with 2 good coats of gray primer, I use
Rustoleum for the primer and then spray 3 good coats of ultra
flat
black paint, I use Krylon for this paint. Then coat with 2-3 good
coats of Rustoleum “American Accents” matte clear. This will
give it
protective shield and not look to bright a finish. When painting
make sure you wait 15-24 hours before you apply the next
painting
step. Example, all coats of primer day 1, all coats of black day
2,
all coats of clear day 3. Wait till day 4 to handle to much so
paint
is not sticky. Make sure between each coat of material that the
surface will handle a next coat, you do not want your paint to
run.
