It is finally coming together after a while on the shelf. I had the ah ha moment with it a fee weeks ago, after consulting a sculpter friend of mine. So, after making a frame over the original piece, and sliming the face some, I used plastic screen to cover the sculping wire and will be using expanding foam to shape over the screen. Then can whittle off what needs and sculpt it. Might use the same tactic to form the legs. Sure its coming together quick now! More pics on the way of stuff long done but more for refresh and continuity.

Thanks Jada! I started to foaming today beginning with the underside, and when cured, I will start on the top and face. Then after that side is ready, I can start to carve off the excess and shape it.

Shapeing up well, all the flaws will be hidden by laytex and paint in the end.

I wanted to do more today but the weather is not condusive to my needs. It was starting to rain sideways at times so when it was starting to reach the middle of my porch, thankfully the bottom was done, lol.

Thanks everyone! Sorry the original posted pics flew away, I cleaned up and reorganized my photobucket album, but all is well now. As soon as I get some tax money, I will be working on the legs using the same process. The big cost will be the latex.

To answer your question, sorry it took forever, very carefully, lol, just kidding, I will be drilling a couple of holes in the bottom back of the helmet and attaching some eyelet hooks for straps that will be hooked onto my old Army l.b.e. (load bearing equipment) suspenders so all the weight will be distributed on the hips and shoulders underneath the clothing. I don't think I will be wearing it for extended periods of time because it will be heavy regardless. Right now, this project stands at 70% done.

Many thanks Very Happy

Here is what I had done when I first started the project. The feet will be foamed and sculpted as well so they don't look as ridiculous as they do now. That way they will even out and get the webbing between the toes to look right. The under armor shirt is for the arms, just going to paint the sleeves, and the tunic needs to be hemmed a bit.

New to the site and just looking around so you get my first post. This looks awesome. I can wait to see your additional progress and then the completed piece.

I saw you mentioned earlier pics disappeared but wanted to ask, how did you do the eyes and upper part of the head? Any chance to get those pics reposted?

Welcome to the boards Khor, and thank you! The pics that disappeared are the ones at the top of the thread, I had to re post them because I cleaned up my photobucket and they got moved is all. The upper head is made from sculpting wire and some quarter inch foam cut to fit. The eyes are made from clear ornament bulbs from the craft store. They come in two halves, and I painted them from the inside with black acrylic and glued them on. I used carpet padding for it's solid feel and thought it would be good for muscle tissue under the latex that will be brushed on.
