Howdy folks!

I was looking to get an Endor Y-Wing pilot costume together before February of next year. I've already found a place that can provide me with the helmet, but I'm at a loss for the rest of the costume. Does anyone out there know where I can track down a pattern for the vest and maybe a few of the other parts?

Y wing

You've got your work cut out for you. Generally speaking there aren't patterns for this costume, so its pretty much gotta be scratch built.

There are some threads about the Y-wing here in the forum.

You may find here a list of links

I have a 'prototype' of the vest, cut out in heavy paper, but I had no time to work on the project after that.
I'll have to get back on it in time for cel.VI

Thanks guys. I had a feeling I was going to be putting some serious time and effort into this. If all else fails I can always do the orange flight suit.

Depending on how cheap I can get the orange or grey flight suits, we'll see which one I'll go for.

I haven't the link ready, but you can get gray or orange worker's coverall for the same price - around 20$ each- on the net.
You need two, one as a base and one to have the material for pockets and modifications.

One problem may be colour: not-safety orange suits are all orange, so no real problem.

Gray suits are a little less predictable: some shops offer a dark and a light (or silver) gray suits, some shops offer simply 'gray'.

What is the real shade of gray is, actually, a 'gray area' in standards: and it's good enough, as is still debatable if the flak vest is gray, taupe or tan.

But it's generally accepted that jumpsuits must not be dark.
I already had problems with it, as the 'gray' coveralls I ordened turned out to be 'Iron' gray - and eventually orange (long story, see my blog).

thanks!
The link in Gils tutoral is dead. I use Automotiveworkwear coveralls almost exclusively however they do not make a grey coverall in my size.
It looks as if the coveralls you used were very similar to Dickies coveralls in color. I see what you mean about the pockets, I ran into this when I modded my first set of coveralls (Im an Imperial TIE, Crewman and Mechanical Crewman) way back when, and had the fabric "reversed". Fabric looks totally different inside than outside, and it stands out in flash photos worst of all.

On the modded coveralls, i wrote a tutorial on modding coveralls into a fligthsuit, and its stickied in coverall-based Detachments over at the 501st.

And yes Andrew...I'm defecting. Bombers all the way!

I'm trying to find the black gloves as well. Does anyone recommend a good site to find them on?

Would these coveralls work?

http://www.sullivanuniforms.com/uniforms/CC14/Coveralls/Red+Kap+Snap+Front+Cotton+Coveralls.html

They come in orange, so there would be the solution to the flight suit.

Okay I found a set of gloves I think will work. Fairly good priced too.

I think you could make them work. Buy 2 and use one for the pockets and mods. The only problem is that they'd only work for the orange. That grey herringbone pattern won't fly. (color fine, herringbone not.)

Yeah I figured the grey one wouldn't work. Any thoughts on where to find a grey coverall that matches?

I don't really, I'm looking for myself as well. I've a y-wing helmet that's getting lonely and as you can see from my sig bar, I'm partial to the Y.
