thanks, I've already spoken with Cal on those, he wont be offering them in "my" size.
I wrote the tute on how to modify coveralls for the Empire and have done several. AWW/RedKap makes a cotton set that is actually a bit more expensive for the single pair, but I could get some matching twill and make my own pockets from scratch, plus there are less pockets to pull off of this one. I have pulled pockets off 15 sets of coveralls so far, a few less pockets to remove would be nice |

I am of the opinion that the trooper in front is wearing a shirt and pants and NOT a jumpsuit. Colors are slightly off and when you play with color effects in editing programs they are definitely different in my opinion. Could a shirt and pant option be added to the standard? You also see and hear of similar khaki or tan fatigues worn during the New Republich ere in the comics and books.

note the slight color difference from the top to the bottom?
I would love to see a larger image of the one on the right.. |

Here is a false color mock up that I created. The first crewman appears to be wearing a separate shirt (light false color) and pants (darker signature) when compared to the second crewman (more uniform coloring). Also, I could not pick up a second set of front pockets on the front crewman. If that is the case, the front crew may actually be wearing the 2 piece tan fatigues that the holoprojector tech (S'too Vees)and many of the other techs/crew/mechanics were wearing on Home One (second image).

as noted...
I made that observation last year that I thought the one on the right was just a shirt and pants...and there wasn't much response to the observation...
so for my Millenium Falcon Gunner...
I went with the Cracken look...

Yes Schph, I totally agree with you. I just wish I was part of RL when this original discussion occurred! So, for the few out there that may believe the crewman in the front IS wearing shirt and pants and not the more common jumpsuit, do you think it is the same as the Holo. tech/crew/mechanic fatigues? _________________ Todd (Toda) - former RAID XO (2017-2019)

dunno...
I haven't done any research on the Holo tech
my "project pile" is overflowing already and I have so many projects
"in motion" that looking at something else is not gonna happen..

necro-ing.
its been about a year from previous discussion, and i intentionally shelved this project because I diddnt see a point in going forward.
The CRL calls for tan or grey. I know there is the claim that its grey, however all of my photos and even my deleted scenes figure are tan.
Screen-seen on every platform I have viewed it on , shows tan.
If I submit this costume under the current CRL as written, would it be approved with tan?

the gray vs tan color discussion is one that never ends.
If you look at the photos presented in the first post, some are decidedly gray looking and some do shift toward tan...but never really appearing completely tan.
Since no one can say what color the suit really is, the standard was written more toward what is seen....
no one knows what color they really were...
so....since the costume standard says gray....
then if you submit a tan suit...it would not be approved as formal... _________________

Phylliss this is where we have to disagree, and I hate to be a pain in the butt about this, as a non-RL member, but I would like to point out the CRL
as written and posted by both yourself and the LMO. This is exactly why I brought this up. Tan is cleared by you on 11/11/11 , yet here in the discussion you say you would not approve it.

The two might be different.
Coveralls may be the gray ones in storage from the first two movies, and reused to save money and time.
A lot of the new wardrobe for rebels in Jedi is tan/khaki - Generals Nadine and Calrissian, all of the commandos - Tan uniforms with "field expedient" camouflage. So the two-piece uniforms may well indeed be tan. _________________

again...sorry....
I didn't read everything...
if the Costume standard states tan...
then tan would be acceptable...
it has been quite awhile since the standard was written and since no one else has submitted one of the costumes...it is not something I have looked at since it was written... _________________

thanks to all for the replies on this topic. As a former GML I study a ton of CRLs and look at every scene for the ref pics. I also scour the net for behind the scenes pics and have a small collection of those that show a lot of color variation. What gets me is that Imperial IC grey is clearly grey but we get more of a taupe shade with Rebel uniforms.
I agree with Mr Butterfield that his costume was grey, but I see so much variation in the ROTJ uniforms that I also agree with Mac Bragg that there were two different styles of uniform. Costume costs add up especially when you need several "throwaway" characters in a scene that lasts only a few feet of film. Off the shelf work cloths with pockets scabbed onto the legs are quick and simple vs making new coveralls.
Looking at this part of the CRL,
Required:
1. Gray or tan jumpsuit with 4 leg pockets in front and a tabbed closure collar and tabbed closure on sleeves.
would it be possible to take a look at the CRL again and clarify that the tan would be acceptable as the two piece uniform?
Also, one additional question:
Which particular rank badge is correct for this? I understand there are different types of ROTJ Endor rank badges. _________________ Once I was Dewka, but now I'm just G'nott sH'urr

Hmmm... just need to make an Endor vest, which I was going to anyway.
I feel another costume coming on. _________________ -David
