yes! i learned it from my freind Madseamstress, who uses olive oil to weather and age leather and microsude. She says it does not collect dirt and dust, so she uses it in door hinges as well. |

make sure you use Extra Virgin Olive oil and leave them in the sun for a day or two.
I need to put mine outside, this is two days later, and they need to be sun dried, they are just a bit oily inside.
As they dry the color will become a lot more natural.

Wow - those look really good. I've never heard of using olive oil for weathering, but it seems to be a fantastic method! _________________ "Training to become a Jedi is not an easy challenge ...

|
|
|
Will this fabric strip (bottomweight material I found at joannes, labeled Cornstalk Target) that is laid up next to my new Gaiters be an acceptable color for the vest
OR
should the fabric of the vest match the gaiters exactly?
The photos are taken indoors with and without flash.
The Endor trooper standard says the Endor vest should be beige. I looked up beige and got nearly 100 different colors online.
So, before i go plunk down the cash on this material, will it be acceptable, or should i continue to search?
thanks!

Yes...I think I remember seeing that "cornstalk" fabric...
I was searching all over for the Khaki colored twill at 4 different Joanne's and no one had any...
am beginning to wonder if they are phasing it out...
the "cornstalk" was darker...but it should be good... _________________

Thanks Phyllis. I have a BRAND NEW Joanns, grand opening is this weekend, and they actually have Khaki bottom weight material, and im pretty sure they had Khaki twill too. Colors of course come and go in runs over time, there certainly is a lot of shades of green in stores the last couple of years, but virtually no Olive Drab.
what got me was the Endor trooper standards that says "beige" vest.
Thanks for the input! |
