While this costume has been known for a while becuase of General Airen Cracken in Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, we're seeing more of this rebel uniform in the deleted scenes that are a part of the Bluray release tonight. I thought I'd get a discussion going on this costume.

It appears that the costume takes a Rebel Technician uniform and adds:
- Endor Trooper vest
- Tan Gaiters
- Endor Trooper gloves or black pilot gauntlets
- Optional Endor Trooper "donut" helmet
Any other details we want to point out? |

Looks like they use the Y-wing/B-wing pilot gaters and a tan-er Ten Numb pre-production B-wing flightsuit. _________________ Jon Paulson • Cmdr. Tag "HazardThree" Greenly

This is a costume I could easily do..
I already have both a gray and a Tan Yavin Tech jumpsuit..
the capped sleeve Endor Vest, gloves, rank insignia and headgear..
All I would have to do would be to make the gaiters...
piece of cake...
well
certainly a lot easier than Hoth Tech Boots/gaiters..
and...
how about this little "oops" by someone in marketing...
Last night while trooping the release of the Blu Ray...
I went into the toy department to find some 3 3/4 figures that featured costumes that I posess to decorate a Community Christmas Tree thing at the Local Zoo that is coming up...
I haven't shopped for 3 3/4" SW figures since ROTS...
so..
I was elated to see an Endor Commando....
then when I got it home...
I looked a little closer...
OOOOOOOPPPPPSSS
Can you say Endor/Hoth hybrid backpack?

Very cool. I think the special features will be the best part of the Blue Rays.
So... what is the funky leather Jayne hat in the back:

Phyllis, I say go for it since you're so close! I have a gray jumpsuit that I'm using to work towards a Y-wing pilot, but to me, this costume looks tan.
On this note, does anyone have any ideas what this costume should be called? I'm inclined to call it a "combat technician" since it's pretty much just a Rebel Tech with a blast vest and helmet. Plus it fits in to their role as combat crew on the falcon, and the backstory on Cracken. |

Interestingly enough..
Wookiepedia refers to them as Pilots:
"During the Battle of Endor, General Cracken served aboard the Millennium Falcon with at least one other Tala Squadron pilot, Lieutenant Blount. The two were initially in the ship's cockpit with its pilot, General Lando Calrissian, co-pilot Nien Nunb, and a navigator. Eventually, Cracken served as the ship's gunner, manning the top turret during the battle." _________________

Copy that Hazard Three!
Seriously, it makes sense that these guys (pilots or not) would be wearing basic rebel trooper fatigues that most of the rebels wear when they're NOT rockin' the "orange" flying in their starfighters.
Besides, everyone knows you ground-pounders can't hit TIE Fighters better then us pilots! |

I've always seen the Fatigues that Luke Wears in ESB s the non Orange (or Grey, or red or Green) Uniform for pilots. This has been supporte by the WEG Role playing manuel, The Empire/Rebellion Comics and the Wraith Squadron artwork.
I do like this Uniform as an updated Rebel Tech or Enlisted Uniform. Possibly even a field Unifrom. The elements similar to the Endor trooper might show what an Alliance Army Trooper would look like off of Hoth lol.
This could show a difference between RFTs (Marines) and Endor Troopers (Army)
Just my take on things. _________________ If you're going to rescue a Princess, do it in a dress uniform. She is a PRINCESS!!!

I'd be fine claiming it as a Pilot (non-flight) Duty Uniform if you don't want it. We have no idea what we wear when not in flightsuits, and the comics just show casual wear which wouldn't fit. _________________ Jon Paulson • Cmdr. Tag "HazardThree" Greenly
