I had a member mention to me about creating a CO's blog in our forums. I thought to myself..."not a bad idea". Smile So here it is, the CO's blog. The ins and outs, the goings on, and the inside scoop.

What's on my mind-- So far everything is going A-OK. Recent drama is coming to a close. Holiday trooping is right around the corner.

I know that a lot of us have family, demanding jobs, etc., etc., and some times Darth Real Life comes into play. It's come to my attention that some of our older members (and newer members) that have not had the chance to troop in a while or stay active on the forums may need a little bit of OUR attention. Take the time to find a member who hasn't trooped in a while or hasn't been on the forum and give them a little "howdy-ho neighborino". I think that sometimes we forget some of our brethren, and it would be nice to drop them a line. You never know.... that might just be the thing to help them get back into trooping.

This is you CO saying "Over and out." Wink

The past few months have had some nail biting moments. Mostly with the elections. We have two Bespin Base members who have been elected into the Rebel Legion's Council and Administrative Offices. Our own Beth Spires/Phrog is part of the Legion Council, and our own Jason Rutledge/Tatooineboy is the new Legion Membership Officer. Very Happy

I just want to say how proud I am of them, and not only of them, but ALL of our members. Mr. Green

we've got spirit!

I can't believe that Halloween has come and gone. I remember when October used to be a dead (no pun intended) month for trooping, but now we have had several troops this year to keep everyone very busy...at least one event a weekend. One big event for our Legion CO Crystal is that her and her fiance Chad tied the knot on Halloween day. Here's to the happy couple! woo hoo

The holiday season is quickly approaching, and we have several troops lined up. Toys for Tots and two parades just to name a few. I'm sure there will be several more to come once we get more into November. And with cold weather coming Brent has put together an interest thread for some Bespin Base hoodies. Go here for more info: Bespin Base hoodies

Well 2010 has come and gone. There have been many changes in Bespin Base in the past year...... new officers, some member promotions to Legion wide positions, and a huge influx of new members. We can certainly be proud of our achievements......I know I am. Very Happy I am definitely looking forward to 2011. Already I've seen some promising new troops and opportunities for some serious fun. I know that we will also have some troops that will touch our hearts as well, like some of the troops we did this past year.

There are a few things that hopefully will be accomplished in the next few months. One of those is a new Bespin logo. We have a few people working on getting a few designs submitted. Right now we're not in any rush to get one submitted as some of our designers have some hectic life schedules. And I can certainly relate to that! Another is to have a combined logo banner with Bespin's logo and the GA Garrison's logo on it. I've discussed with a few people about getting one of those made soon. And you're probably wondering..."but what about the new logo?"....well, we're going to go ahead and have a banner printed with the old logo for now. I thought it would be a great idea to have one combined banner for parades and other events that have both the base and the garrison represented. And in the future when we have decided on a new logo, we can get another banner then.

Some of you may have noticed that we have a new detachment in Bespin Base as well, and that's the Clone detachment: Thunder Squad. With the formation of the Thunder Squad in 2010, we're hoping to get an X-wing squadron going in 2011 (and maybe even an Endor Trooper and an RFT squad). We have some high hopes for 2011! Mr. Green

So take care this year, and may the force be with us for 2011! rebelbird

We're well into the 2011 season, and so far so good. Some of you have already got a few troops under your belt for the year. Some big events coming up soon...... St. Pat's parade, YAD, and the Cherry Blossom parade are to follow. You guys should have plenty to do in March. Razz

I just want to thank my XO, Derek/TheNegotiator for doing such a wonderful job in my semi-absence. He has been well on top of things and is making sure the base runs smoothly. Thumbs up Thanks D! When things "calm" down for me at work, I'll have a better presence on the forums (and will be able to troop with y'all more). You "kids" be good for Derek while I'm away now!

Work has been keeping me busy. So sorry if I haven't gotten back with anyone's PM's and emails.....work has been keeping me from replying back in a timely manner. I'll be on and off the forums for the next few months while the "busy season" is going on at my salon. Hopefully by the end of April/ beginning of May I should be back in full swing. But I'm still here......ever watching...... Wink

Ah, just in time my Liege... May is shaping up to be one of the busiest trooping months in standard years.
No worries- we can feel you in the Force watching us...
kind of creepy actually.

It's been a while since I last trooped, but participating in the Atlanta Memorial Mile was a lot of fun. Although it wasn't an "official" troop, the race was to raise money for Team Red, White and Blue. They help out veterans, and families who have lost a loved one while serving their country. It was a special event for me as I have several members of my family who have either died in a war or have served in the military and have passed on. More recently, my uncle David had passed away on May 13th, 2011. He was a retired Master Sgt. from the Air Force. The others in my family have served in the Navy, Army, Air Force, and Marines respectively. And with that, I had dedicated my participation in the race to their memory. Here's to you Granddad Collier, Granddaddy Napier, uncle Mike, uncle Daniel, uncle Donald, and uncle David! Rose

I'm still amazed at how our little base has grown. You guys make what Bespin Base is today. And you guys are the bestest! I'm so proud of you all for all the hard work you all put into your costumes and how much you all are involved in trooping. Keep up the great work y'all! Mr. Green
