Hey there!

We are trying to pull off a Chi Eekway costume for February (Ep1 3D realease)

I can't find close-up reference pictures of her inner dress. If anyone has pictures of this costume from an exhibition or anything, please!!!!
We need close up pictures to figure out the type of fabric and correct colors.

Another thing...

We are debating whether she is a Twi'lek or Pantoran. Why, well because of this:
The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia (2008) says she is Twi'lek

while the newest Character Encyclopedia (2011) says she is a Pantoran

We want to do the first one, the one with the action figure.

I think the first one didn't know what to do with her so called her a Twi'lek. But, when George was in Ep3 as "Baron Papanoida", he's obviously NOT a Twi'lek, so they changed Chi's "nationality" to match his. I'd say go with the second, most recent description: Pantorian.

I don't really think there are that many great photo references of Chi in that outfit, unfortunately. There are some of the Ep3 outfit here: http://imageevent.com/kay_dee/fidm/aliens?n=91&z=2&w=0&x=0&c=5&m=45&p=90 thanks to Kay_Dee.

Thanks a lot for posting those!!! Wink

Looks quite a challenge. That's why we chose the first one, looks simpler, easier and faster to make.

Pity there're no close-up pictures of the other one.

I was thinking... they're gonna have to re-make the action figure too to match the change, LOL!!

Sorry I didn't see this sooner.

I wanted to do this costume years ago, so I took a handful of photos at the Dressing a Galaxy exhibit.

Here's a link to Kay_dee's photos. She got a LOT better ones than I.

If any one knows of a fabric that can be used for the cape of version 1 of this character, please tell us.

The cape material on the first one reminds me of dreadlocks or a latch hook rug. It looks like something that would have to be made. You could probably use a cotton jersey tee shirt material and use this tutorial (with longer pieces). http://xoelle.com/2009/05/t-shirt-latch-hook-rug-tutorial/

What about cutting a fringe pattern in a lighter-weight suede-cloth?

The fringe on this purse looks sort of similar:

Has anyone successfully made this costume yet? I really want to, but have no idea where to start.

I haven't seen anyone with it yet, but all the more reason to give it a try yourself!

I found some more photos from Kathy's album here.

I guess the best place to start would be figuring out patterns for the cloak, and the dress, mainly. Apart from the headdress details, it looks like she's got satin gloves, a matching wrap belt, and a big chunky necklace too. The dress has a whole bunch of lace applique on it though. The other first step would be materials hunting too.
