Hi all, a brief introduction here. I'm a life long Star Wars fan. I'm originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi(I'm sure yall can tell by the accent, ha ha) and now live in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. I've lived in WI for 10 years now. my wife is from WI so that's what brings me up here. :-) I've been a huge collector and convention gower for many years. If anyone has ever heard of the Cheesehead Garrison our Wisconsin Star Wars fan group, I founded it back in 2007. The Cheesehead Garrison is not a part of the 501st or anything like that. We are just a small fan group that gets together every other month at various Old Country Buffets in WI and have fun talking Star Wars, have our little raffles, etc.

I've finally decided to do my first costume in hopes of joining the Rebel Legion in the Nar Shadda Base. rebelbird I've decided to do an X-Wing Pilot costume. wedge X-Wing 2 X-Wing 1 I've been doing lot's of research online and lurking on the Rebel Legion boards recently. I want to do the costume right and up to Legion standards. So it's great to have a group like this to ask questions with it all.

So a super big THANK YOU to everyone in advance for any help. :-) I'm only in the beginning educational stages of it all and have not started. But I'm looking so forward to meeting other Legion members and eventually troop in events in the future.

Thanks again and may the Force be with you. :-)

Welcome to the area!

Right now if you can tell by the boards many people are running around with DragonCon fever and are wrapping things up for that event.

If you want to check out all the events you will need to register as well with the Wisconsin Garrison .

Hope to see you at some local events!

Thanks for the warm welcome. Throughout the costume making process I look forward to completing my training. Although I might be too old to begin the training(34yo) ha, ha. Yoda

Thanks to the link to Yahoo group. I'll definitaly be checking it out. Just hope I don't wear out my welcome and drive everyone crazy with too many questions.

Like I said before after many years of doing the whole collecting thing. I'm looking forward to experiencing a different part of the fandom. I've always been a fan of the Allaince over the Empire. So an X-Wing Pilot is the only way to go. Pilot Pilot Pilot

Once again thanks in advace for any help and thanks for having me on board. Very Happy

"Ummm... Yes, too old. He is too old to begin the training." Yoda

I think I was 36 when I joined.. so older than you!

we welcome the enthusiasm. We Rebels are pretty thin in this area (IL,WI)
we have numbers, but most of us go both ways Surprised Imperial and rebel..
and with the 501st being a bigger group, alot of interaction goes on over at our garrisons.

Nar Shaddaa covers IL and WI rebels, but WIG covers the WI 501st http://www.wigarrison.com/forums/

and MWG covers the IL 501st. http://midwestgarrison.com/forum/index.php

stop by your local garrison forums and say hi.. you will be trooping with them anyways. alot of the events we do are posted on the your local 501st garrison boards and not here.

If you have question on the X-wing costume. We are here to help.

lol..
never too old...
I was 51 when I joined the Rebellion...

I am not having Dragon Con fever...I have to head to Utah on Thursday morning for my godchild's wedding in Escalante Utah.

And...
any questions you have on the Pilot...
make sure to let us know...

saw that you joined the Outlaw Yahoo Group...
so..
hopefully it should help you a great deal..

Do you sew?

Most of the sewing projects for X-Wing are really fairly easy...
and mostly all of the Outlaws are in Costume Base flightsuits and we mostly all modified the flak vest that comes with the CB flightsuits....

Thanks Schph Gochi and for everyone being a resource for the X-Wing Pilot costume. It won't happen over night and will take a while just due to the $$$ of it and making it.

But nope I don't sew. So I don't got that skill set. :-(

Yep joined the yahoo group as well. Got lot's of learning to do with this so just tapping into all the avaliable resources on getting educated on the process, to make sure I'll be doing it right. :-)

Looking forward to the journey, and it sounds like a great group to be a part of. The Force seems to be strong with this group. :-)

I can assist with the sewing...

The things I can sew for you are:

Leg flare holder
belt w/mini-flares
ejection harness
and
I can make the modifications to the flak vest.

When you are ready to roll with some of the pieces above..
lmk..
I will just need to get some basic measurements from you...

till then...research is always a good thing..
Wink

research, research, research..

there is nothing worse than finishing your costume, only to find out some part wont be approved.

take your time.. believe it or not.. I started my x-wing costume bout 13 years ago.. and only finished it about 3 years ago. Embarassed you might not want to take that much time Shocked Laughing

when I first finished mine.. I found my jumpsuit was all wrong.. my belt was wrong.. had to make changes.. very disappointing after waiting so long.

research!

but..
at least at this point...
till something changes..

which is the reason for the Yahoo Group..

we tried to put all that is needed in one place...

Schph Gochi thanks so much for the offer on the tailoring for the costume when I get to that point. I might have to take you up on that. Will have to see where everything is at that point. Just would not want it to be trouble or a burden at all. But I very much appreciate the offer. :-)

Ouch Crix!!! That's too bad to spend that much time and effort to find out your suit was not approved. Holy disappointment Batman. :-( Yea I hope to not take 10 years on it. I'm hoping for like a year or so.

It's good to hear things are at a point that the Pilot costume is pretty much nailed down. I'm sure there was a lot of trial and error to get it to this point with the Legion.

Thanks for all the helpful comments and kind words. See this is why I've always been a fan of the Alliance. I don't think those 501st guys would be this nice. You know how the Empire is after all, ha ha. vader bikerscout

Also looking forward to meeting up with some of yall in the future events. It's always great meeting other fans. As I said in my introductory post that a few years back I started up our small Wisconsin fan group the Cheesehead Garrison and we meet up every other month at various Old Country Buffets. Our next meeting is Saturday October 15th 10:30am. Like I said we are not the 501st or anything we just get together talk and have a good time with Star Wars and other fanboy type stuff. We also have raffles which are always fun. We are usually there 4 or 5 hrs. That might sound like a long time but it really goes fast. So if anyone here on the Nar Shadda Base board is able to come you are always more than welcome to join us. Or should I say "We would be honored if you joined us." vader

I know the Discovery World event is in October as well. So maybe I'd be able to meet some Rebel Legion folks officially then. :-) Pilot Leia Buns Ben wedge rebelbird
