|
|
|
I picked up a leiasmetalbikini outfit from a 501st member, it has the boot toppers, but no boots. It has the olive green top, so I need to get olive green suede flat boots? Any one have any sources? I have searched around with no luck.
Thanks!

If you can't find a boot just look for a slipper or any shoe/boot that has the right foot shape. it is really quite easy to recover a shoe/boot and have it look good. You just need to take care with making sure all edges are trimmed and finished properly.

Aside from the tongue (which is hidden) no one can tell that this boot was recovered. I have some in progress photos in my Sleia thread too:
http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20331
I used a blunt knife and shoe stripper to loosen the glue about 1/4" all the way round the edge of the sole. Then used Shoe Goo (E6000 is the same stuff and apparently one of the Goop products is as well) to glue the toes and heels to the shoe base and again used the blunt knife to slide the edge of the cover into the gap between shoe and sole I loosened earlier.
If you can pin fabric to fit around your leg and foot you can make this I did mine to lace up like the original, those laces around the ankles are a vita part of the boot standing upright and now slouching to the back, and to allow you to get into and out of the boot really easily It is easier to make this hinge effect if you have a boot with a tongue |

Kay_Dee's site is excellent. I was looking for those bots like she listed, I guess that style is "out" now.
I did the recover the boots thing for my Ironette look, it turned out sorta OK. but that was spandex with E-6000, I imagine suede would be easier.
I want to do it right, thanks for the tips so far! _________________ Slave Leia

They may be out on Amazon, but maybe check that style on other shoe sites, or ebay? _________________ "You like me because I'm a scoundrel."

i wear a size 6 dress shoe, but i normally get a size 7 in a boot to allow room for socks and not to squeeze my feet. you may want a slightly bigger boot after you transform your boot into the leia boot, mine are a little hard to get on after tacking the boot topper down.
Good luck! _________________

Darn, the seller messaged me that the boots are really more of an 8-8.5 even though they were listed as 6.5 That is WAY to big for me. So I requested a refund and will continue to search 7 is about the biggest I want to go. _________________ Slave Leia

Julie,
Good luck! I'm so glad you got the costume. I found my boots at a local beauty supply shop. _________________ Stay on Target |

Gray or olive green is the most screen accurate, but i do believe that the costume standard allows for taupe colored suede as well.
A friend of mine is putting one together right now and is going with the gray. I personally have the olive green. They may allow the dark chocolate brown color, would have to check with a leia costume judge to be sure. _________________
