The Lab Coat I ordered Arrived. I ordered the long one. I put it on and I found out it comes down to my knees. Should I try to match the Fabric and sew on a extension so the bottom of my Trench will go to my knees? I think having a long trench coat will look better. Also do I just remove the pockets from the lab Coat or just paint them? Any tips would be appericated.

My please check my trench coat length for reference. If you want to go longer, feel free. There is some flexibility in the length... so go with that you are comfortable with. You will likely have a tough time finding a perfect match to a lab coat (especially if it is poly), but it doesn't matter as the paint will cover up any seam lines.

When painting a duster, remember that it takes a LOT of paint to do. While you can easily get 2 pairs of pants done on one set of paints, a set of pants and a duster will likely take 2 cans of moss, 2 cans of basil and 2 set of the rest.

Don't forget to paint the inside, as well --on the inside of the sleeves where it is visible, and on the inside of the bottom of the duster where it shows between your legs. Don't worry about areas that are covered by your body, but you don't want white fabric showing too much from the inside.

Hope this helps. Cool

Don't cover all of the tan/khaki!
From the Smithsonian archive:

There's a lot of the tan still showing. Also note how large the pattern is, the right forearm for example - tan, green, yellow green, and brown in roughly a 1/4 of the arm each.

More like WW2 Brtitish Para smocks, not "Multi-cam" or any of the "Digital" patterns currently in use

I just Dyed my Coat. The tan took to it pretty well. This weekend I am hoping to start the Cammo pattern.

BTW, I am missing the bill for my endor ANH/donut. Do I just cut the bill off a tan hat and glue it on to the donut?

I left a lot of tan showing on most of my camo stuff because I figured you can always add color...but can't take it away once it is there...
so..
go lightly at first...
you can always add...

Yep. I found a good guideline was when you think you're about half way done with a color - STOP!

You have at least 4 and as many as 6 colors in play (tan fabric base + 3 to 5 spray on depending on who's color list you are using). It really looks bare with just the first green (basil?) and a lot of tan, but as you add the next color it starts to fill in.

I decided to not use one of the greens I had purchased- it was so close to the color before it and things were gettng "crowded". I used less and less of each color as they were put on, about half as much as the one before it. At the end with the bright green it was going on in 1 second "bursts".

It's hard to see the end result until after you've got most of the colors on, and then, as you said, you can't take it off.

I'm going to do the short jacket, and I'm goung to leave even more of the tan exposed.

Ok, this last weekend has been very long, Hot and tiring. Thanks to a razor blade slip with the donut I can honestly say I ave bled for this costume now lol. I got the length down on my coat so when I crouch like if I was trying to keep my profile small so I dont get shot then the bottom of my trench drags along the ground. My Dad and I did the best we could with painting it. We did step by step for the pattern Obey Wann put up. Got the pants done and also managed to put together a E-11 Hasbro Kit without any problems.

Here is a up close picture of the Pattern.

Hard to tell on these pants pictures. But, there is a nice camo painting on them.

Then here is a pic of my weekends worth of work together. This is me leaning back. You can see the trench is hitting the ground.

I just noticed I need to throw some paint on the coller part on this one. Will be doing that later on today.

I am so close to being done with this costume. I am hoping to Debut it at the Modesto Nuts Game this Friday.

Looks good! Are you coming to the ROTJ screening this Saturday? I'm bringing my Endor Luke (just finished weathering the soft helmet).

Your costume has been approved ...as you no doubt know...

One thing that I would advise you to change is your gloves...

The standard just reads

"Short, light-colored leather work gloves"

so...your gray suede gloves are indeed short, light colored and leather....and were approved..

but..
you will find that most of the Endor Troopers have smooth leather rather than suede and have tan/beige/buckskin colored gloves rather than gray...

just a suggestion...
